Limbaugh Comes Out Against Drinking Water

First Lady Michelle Obama is teaming up with Partnership for a Healthier America to encourage people to drink more water. Mrs. Obama apparently feels that one fourth of American children drinking no water at all is a problem that deserves some attention.

Limbaugh quite predictably saw this as just another example of an out-of-control Marxist government meddling in its citizens personal lives:

"This is really absurd. Drink more water? It's none of their business. Why do they care? You drink when you're thirsty."

We have real trouble, real problems in this country and around the world. What is this push to drink more water? Now, we know that Bloomberg doesn't want people drink sweetened soft drinks, limiting the size to 16 ounces. I'll tell you what I think it is. I think there's an all-out assault on soda pop, soft drinks. That's why, by the way, if you've noticed, all the soft drink companies now have their own version of bottled water. Coca-Cola has their own version of bottled water, and I'm sure Pepsi does.

I don't know what the brand is, but they're expanding into bottled water. You know how much bottled water actually comes out of somebody's tap? You would be amazed. I can't remember. I had the story not long ago about all of the deception in that industry. You know, I've always been amazed. The price of bottled water is far more expensive if you measure it by the gallon. When you go to the store and buy it, it's far more expensive than a gallon of gasoline.

The guys that produce the water don't have to do anything. They don't have to drill for it, they don't have to explore for it, they don't have to get permission from the government to go do things wherever they want. They don't scour the world. They don't have to go down 5,000 feet below the ocean floor to get it. They just turn on somebody's tap, and they claim it comes from some spring. I always thought if I was in the oil business, I'd really be ticked off that the bottled water guys are able to charge that much."

I am only assume that Rush is against socialist government tap water and all Republicans must drink capitalist bottled water. And Rush believe thats government asking people to drink more of that socialist government tap water is bad. Except that the free market bottle water is too expensive.

Anyway point is Plants need electrolytes, stop water plants using socialist water.

I'd love for Limbaugh to become leader of his own little country populated by his cult followers, if only due to a particularly vicious case of schadenfreude.

Rush Limbaugh striking a blow against Big Water!

All I have to say on this is: Wait what?

Yeah, exactly. If you say anything today in any position of public visibility, it becomes an issue of partisan engagement.

But that's just what the ivory-towered elites working for Big Language would have you believe. What a bunch of eggheads.

Thread title doesn't match what he said. He is simply against being told what to do, but I just don't understand why you would be against that. Also this is not a party spokesman, just some windbag.

I'm totally with Michelle on this one. Yellow pee is bad, clear pee is good.

He is not "just some windbag". He has over a million followers on Facebook, over 300,000 followers on Twitter, has his own radio talk show that is broadcast on over 600 different stations, and it is literally the most played talk show in the United States.

He, unfortunately, has a lot of grip on a large portion of the American people.

Drinking too much is bad. I'm with Limbaugh on this one. Take for example any drink on the rocks, or with water, very bad for you. Trust me I've had plenty. These experiments continue. At this point I'm weilling to take my booze straight for the sake...oh hey did I say sake? Good stuff. Those Japanese should be commended. I'm sorry :burp: Were you talking politics?

I don't mind being encouraged to drink more water. But I don't want it to become a mandate. This is probably what Rush was going for... but then he just kept on talking and digging a hole for himself.

That's not really the case.

Pale yellow seems to be optimal, clear means you're drinking too much and making your kidneys needlessly filter extra liquid. Or you've got diabetes or hepatitis.

Also depending on the foods you eat (if they're high in vitamin B), it becomes physically impossible to drink enough water to turn your urine clear.

Who wastes money on bottled water, save for emergency situations?

It comes right out the tap all the same, and in quite large quantities.

Except that it's not the same.
Unless your tap water comes with magnesium, kalium and calcium in significant quantities... or your bottled water doesn't.

Drink the stuff out of the tap in France (and some other places) and you'll be sitting on the crapper for a day or two. Which is why I think they produce and consume such a lot of bottled water.

But I drink tap water at home, and I'm fine. I guess my gut has acclimatized. Or perhaps the water has more chlorine in it.

Buying bottled water is usually a big waste of money. Though the producers will naturally tell you different. As far as I know all the essential minerals you need can be found by consuming a wide selection of vegetables, cereals and fruit.

Why do I need that in my water?

I can see its use for people traveling to different countries, along with emergency situations. But other than that, still sounds like a massive waste of money. Tap water gets the job done, and as you say, we probably get more than enough minerals from just eating normal foods.

Typical tap water has these minerals in sufficient quantities.

One of the few good things about St. Louis is that we have good tap water here. Clean, healthy, pure-tasting, and practically free. So no, I don't listen to the crap about tap water automatically being inferior crap drunk only by stupid, barbaric Americans.
