I recently read a thread revealing that programs like NifSkope and Blender can be used to edit the 3D nif files used for buildings, and I would assume, units. However, the thread's creator had no time to post a tutorial.
I downloaded NifSkope, and after viewing a few nif models, it looks awesome.

However, I can't figure out how to use it:confused: Please help.

First you need to learn Blender, which is no easy task.

Currently all we can do is make new models, not edit exsisting ones.

After spending three hours with it last night I can say that it won't be even close to easy. Ugh. I think my biggest problem was that the tutorial I was trying to follow was for an older version and some of the interface was a bit different.

How long before you can even do the simplest of items?

One thing you might want to do is pick up the Blender book: http://www.blender3d.org/e-shop/product_info.php?products_id=79&currency=USD&PHPSESSID=

Before I got that I was looking through several tutorials and trying to learn Blender, then I got the book and things started to make sense.

You could download the version of Blender that the tutorial is on. You could also watch the video tutorials. I never watched them but Neomega watched them and he is a far better Blenderer then I am.

The most Important thing is to never give up trying and keep making stuff, the more stuff you at least atempt to make the better you will become. :)

Thanks for the tips. Does it matter that the book is for version 2.31 and not the latest 2.41 version? Are you noticing big differences?

The interfaces are not very different, and you could always just use the version that comes with the book to learn it.

If you do use the most recent version and can't find things you could PM me or post in this thread. :)
