:) Hey all!

Okay this is my first quiz that I've posted here and I've tried to make it so some research has to be done. It's not overly long so shouldn't take heaps of time.
Also I've had difficulties loading pics onto the quiz. I have no time now to try and sort it out so I'll try and add them tomorrow morning.

Anyway... here's the rest of the quiz.

1.What is the Treaty of Waitangi? And when was it signed? [2 pnts]

2.Who is Baden-Powell and what is he famous for? [3 pnts]

3.What is tyrian purple? How is it made? [2 pnts]

4.Only one female has been awarded the Medal of Honour who was she? [1 pnt]

5.“If we continue to develop our technology without wisdom or prudence, our servant may prove to be our executioner.” Who said this? [1 pnt]

6.Name the legendary Briton Warrior Queen and her people who gave the Romans a run for their money in 61 A.D. [2 pnts]

7.Name the country that gave women the vote first. When was this and who was the most notable suffragette? [3 pnts]

8.Who designed the “Rainbow flag”? And when? [2 pnts]

9.What mutinous crew settled in the pacific and still has ancestors alive today? Where did they settle and who led them? [2 points]

It's out of 18. Let's say it closes by on Sunday my time? So about 3 days? Can be extended if no one replies of course. ;)

Good luck!!

Some good questions, and it's nice to see some national bias that isn't European or American! But you might want to be a little more specific about number 6, as I can think of at least two possible answers.

So...
The final standings were as above with there entries and Adler17 taking out the honours. :goodjob: :king:

Here are the answers:

1. The Treaty of Waitangi was signed on 6th Feb 1840 and is an agreement between the British Crown and the Maori people of New Zealand.

2.Robert Baden-Powell is indeed the founder of the Scout movement, a British soldier and Baron and also hero of the Boer War for his defence of the Mafeking in 1899-1900.

3. Tyrian purple is a type of dye, named after Tyre and is made out of shellfish (molluscs).

4. Only female Medal of Honour winner was Civil War surgeon Mary Edwards Walker.

5. General Omar N. Bradley said the quote.

6. The legendary Briton Warrior Queen I was after was Boadicea, Queen of the Inceni. I'd be interested to see what the other one was if Plotinus would be so kind?

7. New Zealand was the first country to give women the vote in 19th September 1893. The most notable suffragette was Kate Sheppard. Incidentaly she is also on our $10 note!

8. Gilbert Baker of San Francisco designed the modern Rainbow flag in 1978 as a symbol of gay and lesbian pride.

9. The crew of the Bounty mutinied in 1789 and Fletcher Christian led his men to the island of Pitcairn where his descendents still live to this day, albeit a bit controversially.

Sorry I posted the answers a wee bit late. I had issues logging onto the computer that had the answers on it.

Anyway... Alder17... you're up! :goodjob:

There's also a rainbow flag used by Native American protesters in Peru. I thought the flag of South Africa was nicknamed the rainbow flag, but my memory must be playing tricks on me.

That's 'cause the flag of the Incas was a rainbow design; that was the answer I immediately thought of, but I'm not sure if it's known who came up with the design.

Indeed the German revolutionary Thomas Müntzer used such a flag in his peasant war in the 15th century.
