RevolutionDCM for BTS

I was wondering if I can just drop the updated 2.722 RevDCM into 2.92 as it's running 2.721 atm.

Is this possible or has it been tweaked to work better with ROM?

I do appologise if this is in the wrong place

Highly recommend you play with Afforess' expansion of RoM. He had fine-tuned his latest version with his tweaked RevDCM included. Maybe "tweak" is wrong term, but the basic line is: trust Afforess :).

Are you talking about A New Dawn?

I do have AND installed on a seperate installation of ROM, though I haven't ran it with the RevDCM turned on because of all the instability that is in ROM 2.92.

I wasn't in the mood for a repeat performance of random CTDs due to Rev and ROM dying

Hi Os79
Afforess has updated the WoC side of RevDCM in the SVN which is very nice of him. I'm not sure if that is the end of his work for RevDCM or not. Jdog has not gotten back to me and I suspect real life is consuming him up. Is there anything in RevDCM that you think is critical to fix? I cannot jump onto the machine just yet, but when I do, it would be good if I can target something specific otherwise i will spend days on sifting through the enormous amount of detail and might miss something more urgent.

Cheers

 I'm wrong person to ask about Revolutions :).

But on DCM, ranged bombardment is awesome but overpowered. I'm not really sure anyone can do anything about it so it isn't even a bug report. Otherwise, from what I see (RevDCM is inside RoM:AND), with Afforess' work, it's very stable :).

This is the list I sent to afforess via PM, and of course there are always the items on the todo list, many of which would be more interesting to work on (like working on the Religious victory logic):

1)Update BBAI to current version
2)Fix crash to desktop with change player and having old human player killed
3)Get boolean traits to be properly removed when leader is changed
4)Fix ranged bombard
5)Add in your advanced unit automations modcomp
6)Get BUG options (and other RevDCM options that use the BUG options system) properly working for MP (I believe you said AND has a working system for this, just port it over to RevDCM)

If these were done, 2.8 would be good for release, the other todo list items could be pushed back to a later version.

Actually scratch the above post. I just updated the Todo list and restructured it, so glider just take a look at it and work on whatever you feel like working on. I think most of the 2.8 todo list items Afforess will be working on, hopefully he'll post and let us know more about his point of view on things here. Just had a friend try out LoR and was talking about it over some drinks at the bar and sort of motivated me to work on things again.

The autoplay stopping on revolution popups is anoying (but i see its already known).
Also, some form of victory detection for the autoplay would be nice, either the turn before or on the turn.

phungus420, that is great to hear! :) I hope your are motivated a lot and you and the others will push things forward regarding 2.8. :)

@Phungus
Excellent Phungus good to see you back! Here's a drink to you then

@Admiral Armada
Yes autoplay is not working as intended by Jdog, despite that it works in MP. Your points are correct and noted.

Cheers

My girlfriend plays on a Mac. Is there a Mac version of this mod?

If not, what would I need to do to get the files on her computer and in the right place?

Sorry, but I think the Mac version of Civ 4 requires a special .dll file, and since this mod has it's own .dll, there is no way to make it work on a Mac.

Any mod that changes the .dll won't work on a Mac because Mac architecture doesn't even use .dll files. Bootcamp & Windows or, as I did (just for civ), a windows machine.

Ah, hell. Figures.

Another thought for me then. We play BTS together. I love the changed UI elements in RevDCM. Can I have some of those, and still play multiplayer with her? Are there any I can get away with?

Mac players should be able to use BUG too, it's the python part of the BUG project. There might even be a special Mac version for it, idk.
And yes, you should be able to play with someone who doesn't use BUG, as long as you disable pre-chop and maybe some other options that would cause OOS errors.

What's up glider and Afforess? Any progress on any of the 2.8 todo list items? The main problem I'm seeing is some issue with ChangePlayer and AIautoplay, these are throwing exceptions and causing critical bugs. These all seem to start with a eCivilizationIndex returning -1 (or NO_CIVILIZATION), but no idea where this is coming from.

Hi ya Phungi
I'm taking a look at what I might be able to do in the list. Afforess is really busy at the moment. I suspect that when he can, he will introduce his RevDCM options solution for multiplayer which is on the 2.8 list as the "AND" system. I tentatively have taken a look at the errors when "accept and lead rebels" is selected. I can reproduce the python errors, but as yet the game does not crash as the report say that it does. Don't expect anything fast Phungi. It will only be me and Afforess poking around with the build. I thank you for getting the 2.8 build stable again in the SVN. That was critically important to do. I have played through the SVN on autoplay a few times and generally it already does look solid from an initial inspection for the basic game play. That is good news because if Jdog shows up again he will be good to get straight into the build.

Have a think about what you think is the absolute minimum set of fixes required for 2.8. I think you have already done this in the RevDCM documentation. At the moment I am not seeing the changeplayer/autoplay bug that you have just referred to in the list. I'll have a play with changeplayer and see what happens on my end. If there is a bug there it fits with the bug that I am trying to fix with "accept and lead rebels".

Cheers, have a good one.

I think almost all the problems stem from changePlayer. Try this: build a debug dll, then start a game in the ancient era with Start as Minors on, leave other RevDCM options on as well. To start hit AI autoplay and run through 100 turns or so, you should start getting asserts about eCivilizationIndex <= -1 coming from CvGlobals, and my hunch is that this is being caused by some issue with change player; I also think this same error is the cause of the other bugs listed in the todo list regarding lead rebels and other revolutions/barb civ related issues, as I think changeplayer is used when massive revolutions and barb civs emerge.
