Is it normal that as Arabs I don't flip any cities? There's no way I can conquer the Byzantines and Persians with 10 ish Ghazis...

Arabs should flip Judea and Syria, and about defeating Byzantium and Sassanids, maybe we can create a script that will force them not only to have permanent war with each other, but also to send almost all their troops to war

PS The script that forces AI leave cities that aren't in their core, border or contested province is reducing the AI civs growth. I agree, some of the cities just HAVE to be abandoned (like Pontus in Jerusalem), although if the Arabs conquer Tarsus, and have also got the Levant, that should become a part of their empire, not only because they shouldn't abandon it, but also because they will send troops there another time, and another time....

this means there was a python exception. python exceptions are sometimes python exceptions will turn off after you have turned them on due to the annoying phenomena of the ini file resetting itself. fortunately for me whenever this happens on my machine I get an error message right at launch about voice capture, so I know I need to fix the ini file.

the Arabs were missing some provinces in their broader regions list.

That's not what I mean, if a civ conquers a city that isn't in their core or border province but that is "the next city to conquer" (ex. Pontus has conquered apart from Sinope and Trapezous also Artashat and Albana), they shouldn't abandon it - that's their empire now. It's different from a civ conquering a territory that is completely off their empire (ex. Han taking Salonica).

there are core, normal and broader regions

broader regions are regions that are not stable, but that the civ is allowed to keep

the script only checks the region the city is in, coding it to recognize contiguous areas would much harder. It might be cool to have it work that way, but I haven't gotten around to trying anything. historically the Romans retreated from Mesopotamia because they knew they were overextended, despite the contiguous factor.

edit: I'm trying to find the link to the Qin walkthrough on the Chinese civ forum (that is the civ forum from the PRC). can anyone find it or does anyone know who posted it? its in here somewhere but no search term I have used so far has found it.

It could. It counts more towards the negative stability in the expansion section than cities in historical areas, but generally it's not a problem.

550 AD start, Arabian playthrough:

It's 685 AD, and I see no sign of Avars or anything of the sort.

Furthermore, there are no Germanic barbarian cities, or anything in Hungary, so most of Europe is pretty desolate.

India and China are pretty lively, though. Really the only problem with 550 AD is that Germania, the Steppes and some of southern Scandinavia should be full of little barbarians and independents (and maybe a few unplayable majors, but not necessary) rampaging around and such. That way Charlemagne's empire for Francia seems more like a conquest and less colonisation.

Lastly, is the Muslim invasion of Spain in the game yet? At 685 AD I assume it hasn't triggered yet if it is coded in, but I don't think it is yet, is it?

Made some research and found new important cities: Hatra (Seleucids and Parthia)
Spoiler :
Hatra (Arabic: الحضر al-Ḥaḍr) is an ancient city in the Ninawa Governorate and al-Jazira region of Iraq. It is known as al-Hadr, a name which appears once in ancient inscriptions, and it was in the ancient Persian province of Khvarvaran. The city lies 290 km (180 mi) northwest of Baghdad and 110 km (68 mi) southwest of Mosul.
Baalbek/Heliopolis (Parthia,maybe Rome),
Spoiler :
Baalbeck, also known as Baalbek (Arabic: بعلبك / ALA-LC: Baʻalbik, Lebanese pronunciation: [ˈbʕalbik]) is a town in the Beqaa Valley of Lebanon situated east of the Litani River. Known as Heliopolis (Greek: Ἡλιούπολις) during the period of Roman rule, it was one of the largest sanctuaries in the empire and contains some of the best preserved Roman ruins in Lebanon.
Nisibis (Seleucids, Parthia)
Spoiler :
Nusaybin (pronounced [nuˈsajbin]; Akkadian: Naṣibina;[3] Classical Greek Nisibis, Νίσιβις; Syriac: ܢܨܝܒܝܢ, Niṣībīn; Armenian: Մծբին, Mtsbin; Kurdish: Nisêbîn) is a city in Mardin Province, Turkey, populated mainly by ethnic Kurds. Arameans, Arabs, Mhallamis, Assyrians and Armenians previously lived in the city. The population of the city is 83,832[4] as of 2009. The neighboring Syrian city of Qamishli is basically an extension of the city of Nisibin, and now the more populous section. Were it not for the international borders between Syria and Turkey running in the middle of the urban area, the two would make one city—the modern inheritor of the ancient and prestigious city of Nisibis.
if you still miss some names in Anatolia that could be good

Hope it helped...

The Levant, Mesopotamia, and Anatolia are entirely completed in terms of their CNM. Hatra and Nisibis are there somewhere; Baalbek/Heliopolis was excluded because Heliopolis was used for Fustat (I think) and there are already more than enough city names there anyway.

OK, so where can I help?

For Eastern Persia, this is the best image i've found. It's a bit too small to read some city names, but...

Oh, and Scythians in Ukraine, maybe some barbarian cities

And srpt was already talking about making the Bosporan Kingdom as a respawn of Pontus... could we do that?

I've just read that Tamils (Pandyans in RFCCW) should use different city names than Indians. Tamil and Indian languages aren't even in the same family - look at RFCA and it's city name manager - you'll find out that Tamils have completely different names

I'm aware of the major linguistic divisions of India. nearly all the South Indian city names are already Tamil as far as I can determine, including all the ones that appear in 90% of games (Vanchi, Madurai, Kaveripattinam). I did change Kanchipuram to Kachipedu.
