RFC Epic/Marathon

LuKo, I'm not quite following, but this discussion is probably a "Legacy" issue anyway? :D Shall we pick the subject up there instead?

You should, because research in 0.4 was quite badly broken!

To see what files have changed and to easily merge them with your mod, use http://winmerge.org/

OK, new idea.
Starting at war with another civ is IMO useless for the human player.
I do agree that if a newborn civ is AI, then some civs should have a chance for war on spawn to help make things more historical. However, maybe this is just me, but I usually play to be pretty historic, so I don't need automatic war with nearby civs. Another thing this prevents is getting a DOW on turn 2 when cities flip - therefore no extra units.
So, I propose implimentation of a new rule that prevents automatic war on spawn if the newborn civ is human.

The way I see it: either have one or the other (either chance for war on spawn or chance for war on city flip,) not both. Of course, I would prefer the second option, because then you still get the extra units for liberation.

Does anyone else agree?

Sure I agree, but I don't think this will be implemented in any update. So you'd pretty much have to make it into a mod-mod. (Its basically about adding one line of code to make sure that its not the human player.)

Crossphazer, that would be way cool. Make sure to publish the mod-mod if you manage to get it done!

VC works with this mod, there is nothing to merge. Only problem is with the latest version of VC for RFC comes as a standalone mod, not a module, so you have to copy the files manually from one mod to the other, basically install it like the old VC RFC versions.

Hmm... That meant next to nothing to me, but someone could become the hero of the day by fixing this inconvenience then? Because we want the module thing, right?

I can (try to) do this. But I want to improve my 2nd UU, UB module before I'll start with it. (I hope this modules will come this week, but I can't promise anything.)

Nothing special has to be done, really, just installed it in 1 min.:

1. Download RFC VD
2. From RFC VD/Assets copy the "Modules" folder and the three FPK files to RFCMarathon/Assets
3. Open RFCMarathon/RFCMarathon.INI in notepad and change ModularLoading from 0 to 1

Enjoy RFCMarathon VD

That sounds straight forward enough for me. So then there really is no problem, I guess...

Has anyone noticed any issues playing the 3000 BC start on epic? My first game had Christianity founded in Paris...

What speed? Slower games will never be ideal reflections of normal, i.e. if France gets the tech first, it founds Christianity, technically no problem here as long research rate follows the timeline. From all my tests, it does now, though the slower the game, the more randomness.

It was epic. It surprised me, because doesn't Spain spawn first? They should both have Theology, no?

That's possible, and since latest RFC patch holy cities are never erased, so it'd stay there and flip to France.

Pretty fortunate for the French, certainly. That must be what happened. It goes to show you how much differently the game unfolds with more turns, because it's very rare in base RFC that Rome conquers that much of Gaul.
