RFC Europe Files

He has already done it, at least for many of them.

Really? I'm running revision 326 at the moment and all new leaders (like Abu Yusuf Yakub) have no text. Sedna said he has some of those texts.

Oh you meant personality text??? My fault then.

Sorry, the LHs are still a work-in-progress.

For some of these LHs I use a LH specifically designed for that person that comes with XML. An example is Frederick Barbarossa. Under /Assets/Art/Leaderheads/Barbarossa/Barbarossa_CIV4GameText.xml you will find the most important text items here: Leader Name, Civilopedia entry, and Diplomacy text. These entries could be copied directly into the appropriate XML text files. However... the Diplomacy text isn't necessarily properly referenced in CIV4DiplomacyInfos.xml, and neither is the TXT_KEY_LEADER tag.

For other LHs there is no text file, or I'm using one for a different leader. Then we would need to create our own text files. For now, I think it would be simpler if I maintain exclusive control of the LH files. Once I get everything mostly hacked into shape then I can post to let people know 1) what new text we need to produce and 2) which XML files need to be moved/cleaned up.

@ sedna

Just curiosity, but are those leaderhead optimizations to reduce the files sizes or have they an other function.

I'm just reducing file size. Mostly I remove some unused graphics files, shrink down textures which are 1024x1024 to 512x512, and change some file compression. For instance, for the textures that don't have an alpha channel, re-saving the file as DXT1 can be quite a bit smaller than saving it as DXT3.

To my eye, the LHs look identical before and after my treatment, which was the goal.

Does this also work for buttons? (I mean saving the as DXT1) Because when I change a button, they become 17 kb. (it was 5 kb)

when i go to load the mod it will shutdown the screen as usual but then will not load the mod it then says that the program has stopped working

I agree. I was thinking of making some changes to France, and strengthening the Seljuk invasion, but was on a "hey nobody does anything" status...
OK, let's do it. :)

I dont understand the appeal of the Medieval age. I stop playing the regular RFC after about 600AD and start again.

Um... ok, thanks for the meaningless comment about your personal preference in the MEDIEVAL EUROPE mod thread.
Troll elsewhere please.

I don't think he was trolling, just saying what he likes.
Kind of weird to say that in an RFCE Europe thread through, like if someone was to come to CIV general discussion form and said "I don't really like turn-based strategy games, I play only RTSes".

In other words, the precise definition of trolling... posting something "controversial" in order to get responses/attention. There is no greater good here, like an ill-fated attempt to sway opinion (as I often fall into myself)... this is just a clown being a clown, basically. He offered nothing but a stupid statement, and won't back it up... or perhaps will, but only in an effort to troll further.
