Who is this TXT_KEY_GREAT_PERSON_CHRITOPHER_POLHEM dude?

PS could you get the Byzantines to settle their Great People in Constantinople because that will consolidate their power, currently they settle the GPs all over which doesn't help much

Anyway, revising Great Persons are long overdue...

It would be great and historic for Byzantium, but not sure how to get the AI to do that

Quick question - do vassal-held provinces count toward UHV goals? I've often blown off capitulation possibilities for fear of a vassal slipping a settler through the culture gaps of their freshly-conquered core territory, and me no longer having conquered said province, with no way to reconquer the province with their city there.

No...

Not sure if this is the place to say-nor if this has been brought up previously- but the first UHV for Spain doesn't seem to work.

Are you sure?
I didn't find any bugs in the UHV code, altough I may have easily missed something
Can you post a savegame?

Can you guess my next question? :p

Is there anyway vassal territory could be included in UHV goal checks? Presently, to play as Poland-Lithuania or Austria-Hungary, you don't really have the option to play in a historical sense as a dual monarchy, but rather as one absolute monarch ruling the whole territory as a single kingdom. This could also help stability issues for some civs that rapid conquering brings about, like Lithuania or the Ottomans. Lithuania especially was a tough game for me, since the culture goal meant running artists and building culture - and nearly nothing but - for quite a while, leading to undeveloped citys with poor production and few stability buildings. Given how large Novgorod and Smolensk are, and how many cities may be there, going for goal 3 first would be a great strategy this way, as you could put a lot of pressure on Russia at the start of war, overwhelm them to an early captitulaion and liberate their cities, rather than risk an atrocious war run at a slow pace while prolonging peace so you can build stability buildings to afford you the chance to conquer more cities. As well, if Turkey could vassalize Bulgaria, Hungary, Arabia etc. and have their cities count, it would feel more like the true Ottoman Empire and afford them the abilty to expand more smoothly to their historical bounds.

I had trouble with this one, too - I had purged all religions other than Catholocism out of Iberia, but I didn't get the goal. I looked closer and saw Leira had no religion in the city. So apparently no-state religion counts as non-Catholocism (Spain doesn't like those pagans!). Maybe the UHV description should be updated to mention this?

After a quick look in the GameFonts (I can't believe why I didn't came up with this before :hammer2:), I think it's possible to run the game with Russian characters and the Latin characters with accents. In the GameFonts of RFCE, all Latin characters are replaced by Russian ones. If we readd the Latin characters, we can have both.

Awesome news!
If it works update the svn as soon as possible, as then we can start adding accents to the city name maps right away ;)

Ah, that must be the problem. I have a few cities without Catholicism.

For a second I thought it was because I had other religions in my territory (Morocco colonization).
I'll just go to an autosave and see if that works.

I second the UHV description update.

I'm not completely sure if it will work. The only problem is, the GameFont is difficult to update. I don't fully understand it. I will wait until Asaf makes his GameFontEditor (or how he calls it) is ready, so it's easier to do it.

No prob, a few more weeks won't matter
I will eagerly wait your updates on this

Btw, what do you use for editing the gamefont files?

Currently Gimp. But it's a bit difficult. When Asaf launches a full working version of his editor, I'm going to use that.

Great, thx!
I was also following that thread.
Hopefully he can release a working version soon

He already released something, but I'm too lazy to test it. I just wait until there is a better version. (BTW, many people have difficulties with the gamefont. So there are enough people to test it)

Hm, bad news on this:
Note that this utility ignores the actual font section of the font file (which contains the letters, numbers etc.). It is only used for editing the icons section below it.

After running through the new thread, it seems there are no plans for an editor for the actual fonts section.
At least not yet

Not sure this is doable at all but going to ask anyway. Something that has been nagging me since Civ4 was first released; the GP generation crap-shoot.

Is there some way to make the generation more of a player thing rather than a RNG thing? Annoys me to no end to have 90%+ in something and then get an entirely different one that just happened to have 1% and loaded die :(

I would like the Swedes to spawn earlier to give the Norse more to worry about. If we make them spawn 1050 instead we would see more border clashes. The Norse would still control the south of Sweden by that spawn date.
