RFC Europe playtesting feedback thread

There seems to be a bug with coal. Whenever an AI has it, he/she will give it to me for free, no matter what their attitude with me is. (E.g. I'm Moscow and Isabella is annoyed with me but gives me coal.)

What is coal used for? Can you build any units/buildings with it. I cannot think of any. If it is "useless" resource then the AI will gift it, why not?

It says coal gives a hammer without any unhealthiness. At least with South America Access (even more useless) it'll try to get you to trade something for it, whereas coal it just gives away for free.

This was related to Russia's growing ambitions to become an Orthodox "Third Rome", after Constantinople had fallen. The Muscovite ruler was recognized as an emperor by Maximilian I, the emperor of the Holy Roman Empire in 1514.[11] However, the first Russian ruler to be formally crowned as "tsar of all Russia" was Ivan IV, until then known as Grand Prince of all Russia (1547).

Can we make the 3rd Moscow UHV to include Byzantium (as quoted above)?

Useless? You get +5%:hammers: with a forge! I don't think that's useless.;)

What about putting Ottomans to their real spawning point: they started in fact not from Ankara, and not in the middle of Asia Minor, but around Bursa, which is very close to Constantinoples. If the enemy's capital is so close it might force them to destroy it. Anyway: around Bursa there is no Byzantian city in the beginning of the game.
A question: Is it deliberate, that Byzantians have no workers in the beginning, and their infrastructure is that unimproved?

That only happened after the fall of Constantinople. Moscow did not culturally compete with either Byzantium or Bulgaria.

In my games the main competition for Russia's cultural UHV is Bulgaria (due to the early spawn). One can beat that, however, I do not think Moscow has much of a chance beating the Byzantines. In my game they had triple the culture I did.

AFIK the Ottomans were first chased away from there and later they returned. This is one of those issues, does Bulgaria start in Georgia and does Hungary start at Moldova.

Noticed Spain shares the same repawn zone as cordoba. SO I wonder if they can respawn and what cities would flip, just in north iberia?

Where did you read that? Some of the reference maps are old. I believe Cordoba only respawns in southern Iberia + North Africa.

Can you please check the code for Genoa's UHV--it works but whenever the last bank gets founded, there's a python exception.

Tomorrow I go on holiday to France, so I won't be able to do some playtesting for about 2 weeks. I wish you guys good luck to improve RFCE when I'm in France. Till then.:wavey::wavey::wavey:

Playing France or Burgund the other will declare war very early, loose a worker and maybe an axeman or a spearman, be very happy to make peace and become my vassal. Maybe they shouldn't declare war with no troops?

bye Myri

Norse often early declare war on France or Burgund and don't attack. In RFC it's the same with declaring war on Germany or Britain.

On reference map no divider between spain and cordoba. THis is why I wonder. WHy would cordoba respawn anyway?

Notre Dame says makes citizens on continent happy, but built in Paris does not work for Luxembourg, only for my french core cities yet. Is it changed, to country or something, or bugged?

I have to read the CivIV's definition of a continent. It reads a lot of things incorrectly.

A couple of questions about playing as France against the Spanish.

1. If Spain is coded to eliminate Cordoba why does it prioritise attacking France and ignore Cordoba? In my recent game I only avoided constant war with Spain by gifting them techs. In the late game I was in constant war with Spain but Cordoba never lost a city.

2. Spain typically sends in waves of infiltrators to destroy improvements and halt production in cities. I've tried everything to stop them including spies on tiles, spies in cities and counter-espionage against them. But nothing works. I don't remember this either from RFC or Vanilla.

There seems to be a bug with the Norse 3rd UHV. I have to raze 11 cities to get the 3rd criteria. See the pict from the emperor playtest thread. (The code seems right though)

I will double check, but it is possible that the game does not consider autoraze. It is funny that sometimes in regular RFC you have to sink more ships for the Viking UHV.
