RFC Europe: Small bugs/fixes

Here is what I understand:
1) The Great General Harald Hardrada died in combat, while we have a leader named Harald Hardrada
2) He recieved a religion relation bonus from the Pope, and he was not Catholic.

Thanks, I didn't notice I didn't put info there. :)

Also, I'm sure you are all aware that Arabia turns out orthodox almost all of the time (70%?), it happened in that first screenshot I put there. Again, you probably all know but I really hate that!

I bet that religion bonus with the pope had something to do with faith points.

Are you sure you've got the Alpha8 version? I've started quite a few games recently and the Arabs have been Muslim every single time. I'm sure this has been fixed.

Python error in the resurrection code. It seems that teamDeadCiv isn't defined within one of the functions; it's defined in a different function, but AFAIK Python doesn't care about external definitions.

Well, I now have the Alpha8 version; the Arabs are now muslims! I also notice how France is more aggressive and Germany gets powerful.

But one thing I noticed as playing the Austrians, I was exiled to none other than....
Rome! The Hungarians captured my capital and thought it would be a nice idea to make me the Pope, so that I couldn't take my capital back .

I lost Wien because of those damn Hungarian Strongholds, I found out how to counter them but they mauled me with their Teutonic Knights before I could heal my units with Medic III.

God that's awesome in so many ways. I just looked at it and hoped the thing about becoming the Pope would not be fixed. It's too funny to be fixed, at least preserve it like an easter egg.

Not a real bug but, France collapsed way too early, note the date and all I did at that turn was kill 2 mercenary spearmen (couple of turns earlier I captured Reims from them). Save right after they collapsed included.

Yes, exile can send you to the Pope. I will fix that. BTW, do not lose your capital, it is bad for you.

Well, obviously! I sort of gave up after my army of knights was destroyed. I'm also annoyed about how you cannot attack Venice. It is basically impossible to take the city until you can get bombarding ships, and even then it's still extremely hard. Why is the mud there? Venice lasts the entire game all the time.

@ Corovanrobber, yes, I would like to play as the pope... but it would be screwed up since as a player you would either take over your enemies or not be able to declare war at all. I wonder what their UHVs would be :).

In my last game as Austria I captured Venice from the sea. It's not hard at all. All they had was 2 guisarmes. I just used 4 maceman from 2 cogs and I only lost 2. Any unit can attack from a ship. So I don't see the problem. And in most of my recent games, the AI Venice collapsed.

The mud is there because the whole existence of Venice is derived from its lagoon - it only became a thalassocratic republic of historical note because it couldn't be attacked from land. Venice lasted til 1797 in real life, I see no problem with it surviving all game ;).

Oh... they had Longbowmen and castles, so I didn't bother. Sometimes they do only defend with siege units.

Anyways, in Alpha8 the last Swedish UHV still doesn't work. Whether you have those cities or not, the years just go past 1750. However, I did win that game with a domination victory as Sweden :). Sweden is too easy, just like the Arabs in the last few versions (I haven't tried them in Alpha8 yet).

The Swedish UHV has been fixed for the next version. And, yes, they are far too easy IMO.

Yes, a domination victory as Sweden :). They just have too much production and possibly start with too much already in their area. The Norse just seem to build up in Sweden and Norway. They should spread out and make colonies in the Mediterranean and the northern islands.

I found a few typing errors when reading the Civilopedia.
In the "Religion Overhaul", in the Crusades section, there is a line about how a Knight will be more likely picked to join a Crusade "then" an Archer, should be switched to "than".
Also as I was reading I noticed that you accidentally wrote "form" instead of "from". I can't remember which part it was tho, so if there's a notepad file of that or something perhaps you could run a ctrl+f search of "form" and see if you find anything. (I would do this myself but I don't know where should I search for it).
Also you might want to change the "Historical Start" section a little and remove things like Persia and Rome, and replace them with RFC:E civs.

Edit:
Also I think the apples in northern Italy should either be moved 1S, 1W, or 1E, so they can fit in Firenze's or Genoa's BFC, the Iron in Genoa's BFC moved 1E so it can be improved, and the clams SW of Rome are also outside of it's BFC, and should be moved 1N or 1E (or nobody can get to them anyway).

the Iron in Genoa's BFC moved 1E so it can be improved

I suggested it before, but it's historical correct. So it won't be changed I think.

As I recall, and it was a while ago, Genoa the city initially had very high production but no access to iron, making it impossible, especially soon after to spawn, to do anything except create archers. Putting the iron there was an attempt to give them the resource, but not the added production of a worked tile with iron.

Some civilopedia text is missing for certain economic civics: Guilds and Banking

Noticed that. I fixed it already. It will be in in the next version.

EDIT: And I don't have strategy. Only Civilopedia.

Sorry, what do you mean by this?

The texts exits in 2 parts. The strategy, and the accual text. You can see the strategy when you discover a new Tech with a civic. (like blizzrd's screenshot, but here is no text) It gives a summary of the "powers" of the civic. (something like: Merchant Republic: good for trade, but bad for war) It's something like the strategy of unit etc. in the vanilla game. (see screenshot). I don't have these strategies. I only have the texts you see in the Civilopedia. But that doesn't show the strategy. Even not for units.
