The Copernican Revolution (observatory in Civ3) and the Isaac Newton's Laboratory have the same power. (+100% :science:) If you combine that with the National University you get +300% :science:. I think that is too much. And I don't like it when 2 Wonders have the same power.

Maybe Jedi could post his stuff on the Files thread too in time for a new version.

BTW I'm halfway thru the Civlopedia text descriptions. With the reading, writing and editing its a big job. But I'm getting there, slowly. Maybe the version after next.

I know the civilopedia is a huge undertaking, but it's really important to make the mod feel well done, so thanks for your work. I'm sure from now on you'll be loath to trim out anything (units or buildings) that you've written a summary of. I'd say "keep 'em short", but of course summarizing something concisely often takes longer than doing something lengthy. It is good to keep them short anyway -- I bet everyone reads short entries and almost no one reads really long ones.

I would rather call it Galileo's Revolution, and make it give one free tech.
Round church of Preslav should stop doing that (I don't know why it is so now).

Isaac Newton's University could give a bonus to science and production (this only a little) in the city plus free scholars. That or free observatories in every city, which is a bit extreme, but it's a late wonder anyway.

Just in case I've given the wrong impressiom, it is only the civilopedia descriptions for techs that I'm writing at the moment. If anyone wants to start the same for units and buildings please be my guest. But I will get to them too eventually.

I'm pleased with the the first.
The second is also OK, but maybe it can give every city + (10 or 20 or something)% :science:, or a free scolar in every city + an extra scolar in the city where it's build.
I don't like the idea that it gains a production bonus. IMO a university should only give a science boost.
 
Okay, I've got the latest wonders integrated in.

The only (small) criticism I have is with the complexity of the art for the Forbidden Palace. There are a lot of polygons in this model for a building that is going to be on the map many times. Actually, this was a concern with the old model too, I'm just bringing it up now.

Roughly speaking, the bigger the .nif file, the larger the impact on the game. There are some other wonders which have crazy large .dds files, but this has less impact on the game and I think I can just shrink those (testing it now).

Hm. Didn't think of that.
Had to change the graphics for Summer Palace because they were reallocated to Kalmar Castle.

I don't like it being a castle anyway (the Summer Palace), but couldn't find any good graphics 'round here.
 
So far we've been un-afflicated by the dread memory allocation fault that plagues many a mod as a result of high-polygon buildings/units, and I'd like to keep it that way. I'm sure there's something appropriate for our summer palace out there...

Anyhow, the good news is, shrinking down the crazy large .dds files works fine. St. Sophia, for instance, had .dds files that were many megabytes. They are now < 100 K. Of course the quality of the texture is decreased, but not noticeably at the scale of the game.

Is there a standard points boost given for the building of each wonder as I believe there was in RFC? If so, why can't the same points boost apply to the building of projects, trading companies and colonies? This might give the AI some incentive to build them as at present there is absolutely none.

Yes, we will do this. However, it is more complicated than you describe it, because the XML schema is different for projects than for wonders.
 
--Idea--
Civilization Unique Wonders, for those that really aren't major enough to have on a world scale and would be to weird to see popping up everywhere as National Wonders...

Maybe one per Civ, like the Arabs would get the House of Knowledge, maybe the other civs would get events/achievements that really didnt have much of anything to do with buildings.
 
I think the idea was discussed around 3 months ago, and it was dropped, because it would add even more diversity (besides of UP, UB, UU)

Buckingham Palace is an interesting one though, as we already have Versailles and Escorial (for simmetry). Could use same graphics from Versailles, but in white. Problem is I don't know how to do that.

I recall Tower of London was already proposed to be buildable by Great Spy. Now if we could find proper art...

I don't really think Buckingham Palace is a good idea at all. What would be its function? And it's far too modern. Built in 1701 by the Duke of Buckingham and acquired by George III in 1761 it was never even used as a royal residence until Victoria moved in after 1837.

I did suggest the Tower of London to replace Scotland Yard. It's very old ( over 900 years old) and historically very important. Used as the Royal prison with many famous people imprisoned and executed there and where the Crown Jewels were stored. Here's a picture and possible art for the building. (2nd. from left in strip).
