RFCA - Arts thread

Look what i made! Good Lord, i am gifted  I just wanted to test my blender skills, and now it looks so awesome that i want it in the game.
Can anyone help me to export this into .nif? Everytime i want to install the plugin for blender, in the end a message pops up telling me to reinstall blender. :badcomp:

I started with this video. It's a good introduction and provides you with most of the information you need. And it has such a cute indian accent!
If it comes to LHs, animations might be useful. I used the Gingerbread Man from the Blender Wiki (1 and 2). Last Spring, it took 2 Weeks to get good results.
For this one, i've set an image of Qutb Minar as a background, took a cylinder and resized it so it fits the background. Then i traced the size of the balconies from the background, and the rest was texturemapping. Not that big a deal. The hardest part is to find a picutre that fits as a stencil.
But now i'm at a dead end, because i can't make a proper nif file (i got one, but without textures...)

That's correct, I had to re-install it myself so here's the deal: when you install Blender, you have 2 options where to store User Data. IIRC you need to choose the second one (Blender folder), as with the first one, Nif tools/python scripts don't work properly. Then you can install Python, PyFFI and NifTools.

Can't wait for the Qutb Minar, looks great :p

Am I awesome or what?
The size is a little odd, that's why you have to change the xml
Spoiler :
<fScale>7.5</fScale>
<fInterfaceScale>0.35</fInterfaceScale>

With the original color, it looked grey, so i reskinned it to red...and a little pink (wasn't intended). If you don't like the color, it's little work to change it.

Well, i see what i can do. It's rather hard to find a good picture, because Iwan is another spelling of Ivan...so you get pictures of male models.

Here is another bunch of buttons.

- The art files of Sulphur are in the package on the main threat.
- You can use the Sumer Vulture button for the Shaman Warrior

Please update the first post too.

And again I can only say thanks!! Congrats to you first wonder civ-addicted!! I already know that the patch will be kind of an artist patch ;).

I added a shadow to Qutb Minar, civ-addicted said it's ok to post it.

And once again: :goodjob:

Here you go. Have fun!
I would be grateful for anyone to a shadow (havn't found a tutorial so far)

Incredible :goodjob: A bit high poly on the cones, but shouldn't be a prob. I can do the shadow sometime later. As for "tutorial", the simplest way to do it is copy the shadow node (a flat plane) in Nifskope, from any CIV4 building that has a similar one, then if needed, repaint the texture in photoshop/gimp/whatever.

Before you launch the patch, you could include this button. (For the Elephant combat type.)
Also, I found the way how I can reduce the size of the .dds files. Wenn you have launched the patch, I will reduce the size of the buttons I made and reupload them again.

EDIT: the elephant button is in the pack next post.

Here are (as I promised) all buttons I made again, but in a much smaller size. It also includes the buttons of the Elephant unit type. (art/interface/buttons/unittypes/elephant.dds) You can instal them as a patch. (they will automatically overwrite the older ones)

You can use the Sumerian Vulture Button for the Shaman Warrior.

I'm sorry to say, but the Zhou UP text isn't changed for me.

Some more art for you:
If you're making your mind up about the Korean UHVs :deal:
Spoiler :
Xian Mosque - well, the Minaret on the button
Izumo Shrine - somehow, the civilopedia puts it where the Lighthouse was, but in the game it's fine. I'm not quite happy with it, because the scaffold that house stands on top increases the file size dramatically. Any idea?
A Manechaeist Temple - What i propsed: A vanilla Christina Temple without the Cross on top
A flag for Ming, so it's not black anymore (don't know how that happened)

Another bunch of buttons.

- You can use the chinese_button.dds for the bowman of archer of something
- You can use the elephant2.dds for an elephant (like the chalukyan)
- You can use the post_station.dds for now. But I try to find some better one.
- The siegeworkshopbutton.dds is an improved version of the old one. (I removed the sharp edges.)

Thanks guys! I'll add them right away! (Sory that I missed you post first merijn_v1... I added the elephant button now for sure ;))

No problem. I already thought it was to late for you to add it in.
