RHQ Artificially Intelligent AI Mod

RHQ Artificially Intelligent AI Mod RHQ AI Mod 2.07

Here's a summary of my ANT and EXP games with 1.2 vanilla (first game w/o RHQ mod, for future comparison purposes). Deity, Continents, all standard, only UI mods. Screenshots attached.

.....

Next I will finish Modern to complete this benchmarking (not holding my breath but want to have a post patch point of reference) and start a new game later this week with the RHQ 2.07.

To wrap up the summary of my full 1.2 vanilla game - as expected, virtually no change in AI performance in Modern age. I finished culture victory by T64, which was ~10T later than pre 1.2, but pretty much the same story I won't repeat here.

This was my 5th modern age Civ 7 game and might be the last one for a while, unless the AI plays so well in my next game w/ RHQ mod that I finish Exploration significantly behind the AI.

I am also thinking of posting a "quick culture victory guide" in the strategy forum to get the dev's attention with the hopes of them fixing AI or the CV path. There is some low hanging fruit they could fix, such as the AI not sending their explorers right away to dig sites and instead keeping them idle for 1-2 turns, giving the human the upper hand.

AI yields are good, but doesn't translate to victory:

AI barely starting to progress victory points by the time I've won the game

Sounds like I have to remove the city evaluation changes, and keep things at base. I will do that.

So for my next new game (likely tonight or tomorrow) should I play 2.06 or the beta?

FYI, posted the culture victory guide here, with all the details. Also tried to post a Steam guide to increase the chances devs seeing it, but Steam is extremely buggy so I gave up.

So I don't know that's going on in my games, but most AIs are pushing close to 2000 science and culture in exploration. This is post 1.2, not using this mod. Those yields are shockingly low to me.

I don't want to derail the thread here but what is going on? I can't build a single wonder because AI have it built when I'm two civic tiers behind. This is deity right? I'm truly shocked at how low the AI is.

Yeah it's deity, I've only played deity since release nothing else. I've never ever seen 2000 yields

I took sooo many screenshots too they're still saved, nothing comes close

I'll see if I can get a screenshot up soon. I only go on the forum on my phone usually.
Scanned my yields screenshots and yes this last 1.2 vanilla game had the highest AI yields I have personally seen

Maybe you are quoting Modern yields beyond T65? I can see yields reaching 2000 in late moderns but I always win before gets to that

Absolutely not in exploration though.. that's shocking to me (longest EXP game T95)

Right now turn 64 explo. Leader is 755 science, 568 culture. This is actually lower than usual due to an age -long world war

Yes that's reasonable, I have seen about 1000 or 1100 max by end of exp (T95)

2000 on the other hand got me wondering "have I been playing the wrong game this whole time?" Lol

Regardless of yields (which can be swingy with celebrations, war weariness etc anyway and are not always trustworthy), it can't be the goal for FXS to give anyone, AI or human, the ability to consistently win a cultural victory at turn 60 in Modern.

That's a problem with this particular mechanic (because you can do it just by focusing on it, not by building an exceptional civ in some way). It's not something that should be solved by AI improvements yet (they should build more reasonable mechanics first) imo.

Science is the only "real" victory for me at this point.

I played my current game intentionally long in modern, to see how AI is going.
I went for science victory but then turned to Operation Ivy, because I saw AI Augustus has the 15/15 culture path done, so only World Fair was needed for him - and he did not make it, though he had at least 20-25 turns for that - I won by Manhattan/Operation Ivy that combo took me about 15 turns to do in the end... I saw Augustus had 2/3 of Science Victory projects done... did he go for that?
I switched to mod 2.07 at around 40% of Modern... some 40-50 turns before end, I think.

Interesting, at what turn roughly did Augustus complete 15/15 culture path?

Did he actually start building the worlds fair but wasn't fast enough? If he didn't build it at all we have a serious problem..

I may have to turn up world fair as well

I get these 2000 yields all the time. I usually play with my mod to boost yields a little (+100% instead of +80%) and I have confirmed this is calculating correctly. But usually science and culture are both 1500+ by the end of expl. for 1-2 AI and then normal 500-700 for the rest of the AI.

As far as I can tell, these AI have more science/culture per specialist, and tons of specialists, which surprises me because as far as I can tell, the AI gets no bonuses to food or growth.

I know some civs have bonuses in their trees I don’t know off hand, and some leaders do, and I assume AI takes traits. But somewhere it seems that the AI gets more of something randomly. Their cities/empires don’t look any stronger than other AI, just their building yields.

This question about high yields hasn’t generated much traction in the general discussion forum, but seems to affect difficulty significantly, especially if AI can be modded to pursue science victory and/or world fair.

I know they're getting these yields unnaturally (which I don't mind, just like their infinite units) because I capture their cities and they are full of obsolete buildings with very few from current age.

Tried my first 2.07 game today w/ same settings (deity, continents+, all standard) and I must say kudos, the changes you made are very noticable from vanilla:

- AI built so many wonders, I lost 3-4 of them which was super frustrating and only got to build 1. Lesson learned = next time don't even bother :)
- AI settling was very compact, cohesive, no weird 'out there' settlements for the taking. They settled like a human basically
- Diplomacy was NOT on my side in this game which was the biggest challenge for me. This may be just luck / opponents / map or maybe related to the mod, not sure. Wasted so much influence trying to appease / reconcile but all wasted.
- AI waited a long time to declare war, until they were ready with higher tier units and LOTS of them. No wars broke out until right before crisis time (<70%) which I hadn't seen before... This made the game more difficult because I couldn't take advantage of AI's fighiting each other to dogpile on the weak.
- I got declared on and made tactical mistakes and lost a few of my precious cavalry which pissed me off. And then my other neighbor joined the war and came marching on my undefended settlement from the opposite front...
- I could see where this was going so I called it a defeat and rage quit!!

Definitely much harder than before!! Next time I will be play even more cautiously and will have to think of a new strategy to defeat this AI.

Wow! :)

I started a 2.07 deity game (my first try on deity)
I use this mod now, set up a game of me as Himiko/Khmer, and 3 sci non-military AIs...

A-Age, turn 50, it is all peace - I try to make friends with Ada, who is at 1 city (?), while the other AI is at 4/5 settlements...
I have 3 settl. - and do all the endeavors I can...

EDIT: I use a mod so I set up only science victory active - I hope this makes AI focus only on that
