swastika discussion aside, i think the idea of government specific wonders (perhaps, small wonders) is a good idea; it would add further character to the governments.

in our own personal mods (which i played exclusively before i got ROC) my wife and i added some government specific wonders, such as "Supreme Council" for republic (free courthouse in all cities) and "Paparazzi" for democracy (generates lotsa cash, culture, and a happy face in each city).

i dont know how these would affect game balance, and given all the work done to make this mod sing in that respect might be undone by such a thing. that said, i know that if such things were added, all y'all would be the people to do it well.

EW

ps - Rhye, are you still looking for screenshots of games in progress? it turns out i've got about a dozen saves from the start of my germany game through to my current position, if you're interested.

Well, microsoft's encarta page is available from Germany, too. If I search for swastika there, there's a difference on the german and english page: The first won't offer any pic. Ok, but the english version is available from germany, too. The law (its aplicable part) is about public display of anti-constitutional Symbols. Stress public. As long as there's no translation of the mod I see little danger really, as public of course refers to german public, implicitly in german language. And anyway some common sense applies, otherwise historical documentations were also banned, which isn't the case.

Why Auschwitz is a different case? Cuz building it aids the player, a different law could apply, as that may be interpreted as encouraging.

IIRC, all affected games thusfar were kinda wargames, again activie part of the player, often with the possibility of players taking the nazi side. There is no nazi civ...

And btw, don't make this bigger as it is.

err... and I have some probs with all these abbreveations, what's MoH?

Finally, the arguement about sweden and beligium may shift tides here... dunno enough that, so maybe really better safe than sorry?

Did I say I'm not much of a posting machine somewhere? LOL The times they are a changing... 'nuff now, waiting for saturday obviously makes me kinda talkative... the nervous tensions ;)

Argh. Started playing (as Germany) and stopped when I saw I can build a Horseman without connecting Horses or researching Riding.
You may wanna fix that. =X

Fixed

Is the folder in part 2 of the beta supposed to be called "Rhye's Of Civ XF"? oO
EDIT: Okay, apparently it is, never mind this post. =X

Yes it is. The division in two groups was helpful for me not to confuse the units.

For some reason, I'm getting a very slow download speed from your site, and the download keeps "completing" before it's actually finished. (At 900 kb, for example). I don't know whether it's my problem or a problem with the RoC site, but at this rate it will take me a long time to download the mod.

Yes it sucks. But it is the only web space I have for now. I'll ask Thunderfall to increase the size of my ftp space.

The law in Germany applies to Rhye and CFC because the DL will be available in Germany. It doesn't matter where you are, or where Rhye is, or CFC. I'm offering this information because I don't want to see Rhye (in the first place) or CFC get into trouble because of this. What I, or anyone else, thinks of the graphic is immaterial. If it was not a concern then top selling games like MoH would sell with swastikas all over it, but they dont. Why tempt fate? Is it really that important?

I could make a small patch for Germany which replace the files, instead of making the patch for the rest of the world

Edit: Oh yeah, forgot to add that it is (probably) illegal in Sweden and Belgium as well. So if if Rhye wants this Mod to be added to a Firaxis "Best of the Mods" CD....

Is there going to be a best of the mods CD?

Hey Rhye are we going to need to update the strategy guides?

Yes. That is the work you'll have to do after 1.0 is released. :)

That's the last thing I want from you: everyone who had already written a guide should update it to RoCX, and the rest of the people should try to fill the missing civs.

A guide to a civ now should mention how good is the traits and the religious traits combo, and how good are the two UUs, plus of course, a comment about the starting location and the surrounding civs. In RoC guides were only about the traits, the UU and the starting location, so writing the new guides should be pretty easy, as there's lot to be commented.

Not for now. I'll tell you if I need

I was reading your change list on your site... and I think you made a mistake by changing Samurai to Med Inf... because they clearly weren't, Samurai were a class of men... they fought on horse back, on the field with sword, spear and bow, as assassins... they were more like knights in that knights were a warrior class... not free men-at-arms :)

You could even split them into their constituant parts:
Samurai Caverly
Samurai
Samurai Bowmen
Yashurgi (think thats right) Samurai

The fact that they replace a certain unit doesn't mean that the UU must be of the same kind of the replaced one. Let me explain: Keshiks replace knights, but they are horse archers, while knights were heavy armored cavalry.
So, nobody said that Samurai were free men-at-arms. But seeing a foot unit with 2 movement is a bit silly, so it's better if they get 1 movement and replace the Man-at-Arms.

Keshik were a loose equiverlant of Knights though, the climate of the middle east meant wearing such heavy armour was not a wise call. Whilst Samurai were as direct an equiverlant of knights as an utterly different culture could produce.

Just my opinon regarding accurcy :)

Uh, hey Rhye, in order to change the strategy guides we will need access to them on the mod page. I am going to start a gmae as my beloved Ottomans ;)

Hey Rhye, where's the page where we can sign up and support you for a job at Firaxis?

I put in a few good words for you Rhye ;) Alas I have encountered an error, either my fault or yours- the game crashed due to a missing native swordsman fortify link or some such. The mod looks excellent with the flavor units! Did you notice that the Ottoman warrior, when forified, turns white?

Thanks!
Please tell me the exact message of the crash.

Swordman without S.
Strange, it works for me.

Try to replace the line
FORTIFY=..\Swordsman\SwordmanFortify.wav
with
FORTIFY=..\Swordsman\SwordmanFortify .wav
inside Rhye's of Civilization XF\art\units\native swordsman\native swordsman.ini

Sorry, been in transit an such... searched AGAIN... turns out my shoes have some of the same chemicals as some bombs do... look out, I am the only vegetarian pacifist in the world who wants to kill stuff! haha its insane.

I am getting this error message whenever I open it with winrar

"Unexpected end of archive"

should I be using winzip or something? Never had this problem before and I have always used winrar before.
