so let me get this straight - you make an air unit, with the the ability to transport units as well as offensive bombard, a short operational-air-range but 4 movement points so it can do multiple actions per turn. then you can either transport 4 times in one turn, or transport 3 times and bombard once, or transport twice and bombard twice...?

i like it! definitely i prefer an air unit = air unit, although i must admit, camber's idea had crossed my mind in the past. although a bit overpowered, the helicopters in alpha centauri are my gold standard for the best way i've seen it done.

Cmq se vai sito del mod http://rhyesciv.uw.hu/ e cerchi le FAQ, dovresti trovare nel 99% dei casi la risposta che risolve il problema.

I get a load error: FILE NOT FOUND: "art\units\ancient settler\ \ \ \ \ \art\units\settler\settdefault.flc"

I have Conquest v1.22, english version. I'm doing something wrong. I have re-installed conquest and the v1.22 and ROC V2.68.big. Still have the problem. Any help would be great.

cycl, go to your Civilization III\art\units folder.

Can you find settler\settdefault.flc?

And also check inside Rhye's of Civilization\art\units\ancient settler\ancient settler.ini

It should contain DEFAULT=..\..\..\..\..\..\Art\Units\settler\settDefault.flc

In any case, if you don't find a solution, I'll make a patch for you which contains the ancient settler flics, OK?
 
Rhyyye what do you think about the helicopter idea? If you want I will hunt up some sweet graphics for it

@EW: yeah its soo funny because I use the MUNIT pack, so its a carpet bombing chopper. Strangely enough, it just shows the bombs; the chopper stays the same.
 
I like the helicopter idea Aeon, it would add some special variety to RoX in the modern age that others don't have. I think it would be great if you take the lead on adding it so that Rhye only has to add it to the 'official' version.
 
In truth, an assault Helicopter (a gunship or something similar) was originally in my plans. But the addition of so many modern units made me say "Stop", and after that I forgot about that unit.
Now I'm very busy with studies (exams closer) and I don't want to lose more time. I'm uploading now the installer, which is intended to be the final version. From now on, I have to think twice before releasing a patch, because I must contact Thunderfall and ask him the keys to upload the 160MB file.
But this shouldn't stop you from keeping developing. You can discuss here in this thread as much as you want and release unofficial versions. I'll lurk here and see what happens. If I like the changes and I feel everything's OK (including the animation, which must match a standard of quality) I may put it on the list for a possible next patch. If a new bad bug comes out and I have to fix it, I'll include the changes I liked. And then wait for Thunderfall to upload again. If I'm not convinced instead, I'll just put a link to the alternative version in the site.

Mi è sembrato molto interessante il tuo mod, e in quanto appasionato di civ, mi piacerebbe tanto riuscire a farlo funzionare.

1) Rhye, i have a big idea for make air units usefull : make them like in civ 2 :) !

In civ 2, i liked the sound of atomic bomb or stealth fighter or bomber ...

Because actually i never use air units :(, too hard to manage ...

2) See that Leaderhead Rhye ;, it would make a good german Leader ...

Rhye, credo di aver trovato il problema.Il tuo mod è compatibile solo con la versione conquests US/English 1.22 ed io ho conquests in italiano 1.20!

ah beh....non puoi reperire la ver. inglese da qualche parte?
Con quella italiana non andrai molto lontano...non giocherai a nessun mod, non solo il mio.
In alternativa puoi rinominare tutte le cartelle...una cosa lunga e noiosa, ma fattibile.
Gli spagnoli fecero anche una patch che rinominava tutto in automatico (dallo spagnolo all'inglese)
 
Credo che cerchero di reperire la versione in inglese!
Altrimenti cosa si dovrebbe fare per creare un programma di conversione come quello degli Spagnoli?
Noi Italiani non dovremmo essere da meno :goodjob: !

As you can see, I'm out of any deep changes or new projects.
But
1) You can discuss with the others of air units. I'm not expert of civ3 modern units to say anything.

2 and 3) If there were 3d animated leaderheads available for each era, for each civ, and with the possibility to change the name of the leader, it would have been good.
But there's another possibility. Do you remember Rhye's of Civilization 1, for PTW? It was divided into ancient civs and modern civs.
One could take the 134x130 map, update its resources, and make alternative BIQs with different civs. In this case you can use more than one leaderhead!
But I want to be clear: I'm not making it, because I'm retiring from the development of the mod and I won't change my mind. I leave you all space to discuss.
There are possible projects that you (with "you" I mean Aeon+Blasphemous+Lachlan+EW+Camber+anybody wants to join) are able to
make:

-MP version, on a smaller map (85x85?)
-as said, various biqs in the 134x130 map
-SE Asian civ replacing Byzantines (you can use my "No Byzantines" version)
-Further unofficial development of the main mod
-Scenarios with pre-placed cities.
 
Rhye, la mappa terrestre che hai creato la posso fare funzionare anche se ho la versione in italiano?

Credo che sia simplicemente un file batch che rinomina le cartelle e i file .ini all'interno.
Cmq ricordati che ti serve anche Civ3 normale (detto anche "vanilla") in inglese!

Ok, so we need some less huge bombs to work in the chopper for everyone else. Preferably machine guns. OR I can just snick snack slice it in there for myself ;p

Does anyone know how to mix up the animations? I asked WAYY back when how to make MUnits, and since thats just another form of editing the animations I will quote this post from that thread...:

you need 3 programs to create MF-Units

1. FLICster to work with flc-files in a Civ3-compatible way
2. StoryBoardBuilder (SBB) to create MF-units in some easy steps
3. a program like PaintShopPro (maybe 8 or 8.1)

1st and 2nd are available from my site (section "Programs" in "Civ3"), look my sig for link
you can get the 3rd as trial version from www.jasc.com (I think 30 or 60 days trial, it's enough if you only want to create the C3C-units)

Which actually does have a pretty good tutorial program.

I might try and do this all again, but since it was a real PITA for someone as skill-less as me in graphical editing, I was hoping someone else would give it a shot.

EDIT: I say mix up because there are already perfectly good machine gun animations in the chopper file. Gotta go to classes, but after that will post a link.
 
I checked in Civilization\art\units\ the conquest art directory and all I have is Civilization\art\units\ancient cavarly. thanks for your support.

Bleh... When I get back in business I'm gonna need someone to give me a short version of this discussion... Seems interesting, but I just don't have the time to read everything. :<
