Oh, and D&G, wasn't your diagram of the riddle wrong, if they went across the track on different days?

I'm also a bit dissapointed in the answer to the train riddle, but I guess it's okay and we should all move on to other riddles... Here's two:

How many letters are in the English alphabet?

A woman has 7 children, and half of them are boys. How is this possible?

Edit: And another one, just for fun:

This guy living on the 20th floor in an apartment building got up early each morning to go to work in a downtown store. He always went into the elevator on the 20th floor and rode down to the entrance (1st floor). When he came home he always rode the elevator from the entrance and up to the 8th floor. He walked out of the elevator and walked the stairs up to his apartment on the 20th floor.

Why doesn't he take the elevator all the way up to his apartment?

My diagram wasn't wrong; it was a composit sketch of what which way the trains were going, on their different days ;)

1. 15.
2. All of them are boys. Therefore, half of them are boys as well.
3. He couldn't reach the button for the 20th floor. He was a midget.

:goodjob: on 2 and 3. The first one is wrong, though.

On the first one I have 2 answers.

1. 26?

2. Depends on how you define letters. Do you mean Snail Mail letters? In that case, None.

Well, the first one is technically acceptable, but if that were the answer it wouldn't be much of a riddle! ;) And your second answer is also incorrect. What's a snail mail letter?

There are 5 cats in a boat. One jumps out. How many are left?

There are four left in the boat, if that's what you mean, but there are still five total cats.

Snail Mail are letters delivered by mailmen. You know. The kinds written on paper.

Oh yeah, I've heard of that before.

Really? Hmm... well, there's one boat left. ;)

Oh, and no, you don't need permission. (Great smilie, BTW!)

Right... is the first one 18? I forgot to count the letters in the!
Yep.

Edit: Just noticed that TNG was the first to answer the question correctly. :goodjob: (I was wondering why D&G said "right...")

But the drowned cat is still "left," isn't he? Just because he's drowned doesn't mean he doesn't exist anymore. Just like the riddle that says, "Five fish are in a fish tank. Two die, so how many are left?" and the answer is five. Of course, I guess you could say that the cat has gone to heaven, and "is no longer with us," but still... I guess I'll just wait for pug.

Give up? :D You're SO going to kill me! :D

Not yet; by "wait for you" I meant for you to officially say if TNG was right or not. I guess he wasn't, but there's still plenty of time to think about the riddle.

Edit: New riddle:

Every day on his way to work a man passes by a small building, and chuckles when he sees it. The reason he thinks it's mildly amusing is that it makes a type of product, but can't use that product itself. It's a product that each and every one of you has almost certainly used before, some of you every day. What is the product that the company sells, but can't use it in its own building?

Edit2: I have now actually thought of three possible answers to this riddle.

@Will: cars!

I have a couple riddles too: A man was walking down a stairwell, when suddenly the lights went out. He immediately proceeded to sit down and begin to cry. Why?

A man walked into a bar and asked the bartender for a drink. The bartender pulled out a gun and aimed it at the man. He said "Thank you" and left. Why?

A man was lying dead in the desert with a backpack on. What was in the backpack?

1: "English alphabet". That's 15 letters.

2: "Them" reffers to the children and the WOMAN, not just the children. Therefore, 4 are boys.

3: The guy is vertically chalanged and thus cannot reach the higher buttons in the elevator. (ofcourse, he was also mentally challenged for not taking a stick  )
