Anyways, in hindsight, it's not that surprising. Tom Petty smoked for so many years. It was bound to catch up at some point.
Also, how the media treated it was shameful. Both CBS and Rolling Stone magazine announced his death before it actually happened, and there was horrible confusion over what was going on, particularly around the DNR order.
