[R&F] Rise and Fall General Discussion Thread

I keep asking myself why everybody presumes it's William Wallace who will lead Scotland.
Brave Heart which is the clue that the Chinese Translator/Fact Checker dropped was the nickname for Robert the Bruce not William Wallace, even if the movie makes you think so.
As his job was to check the Chinese translation of the original English text I guess Firaxis would have the facts straight in the Civilopedia (I hope).

I blame that horribly inaccurate Mel Gibson movie....:p

It's still not as bad as that Colin Farrell movie portraying Alexander.
I prefer this game's rendition.

Ah...the movie which cast Rosario Dawson as Alexander's Sogdian wife, Roxana....

Still beats that Troy movie with Brad Pitt in which the war seems to go on for only two weeks...

Yeah, I really hated that one for not including the mythological elements of the Illiad, like the Greek gods.

Woah! Woooah!!! Hold your horses people!:eek::eek:
I mean Alexander ain't great...But it ain't Braveheart bad!!! :nono: (From a History perspective anyways :p)

Pretty sure you're supposed to watch that Troy with all the levity of 300 :p

Now, we have nothing new about Rise and Fall to discuss...so we have resorted to discussing "historical" movies....:p

Well as you can tell I might be kind of biased considering I always have loved learning about Hellenistic history/culture, especially Alexander. :mischief:
And I also meant I like the way Civ 6 Alexander looks compared to the movie, which in itself is saying something.

Didn't Alexander Siddig play Perseus or Hermes or something in one of those pseudo-Greek movies? (TBH, outside of Star Trek I've actually only seen him as Gabriel in The Nativity, which also featured Shoreh Aghdashloo as Elizabeth.)

You guys just reminded me a weird animated movie about Jonas and the Whale. The main characters were hopping vegetables with faces. Oh, and there was a caterpilar, too.

You mean Veggie Tales? I think most of us Americans grew up on that. :p

He played Hermes in 2010's Clash of the Titans. I only knew that by googling though, since I never watched that movie....:p

Sounds like Vegetales to me ;)

Do we know if Spec-Ops need to be close to an Aerodrome to make an air-drop to somewhere? And if we also need Rapid Deployment for that? I sure hope it works from
Everywhere inside your territory... they could be very handy for some late game emergencies in such a case.

Though that would make Aerodromes more important...

I really hope that they depict Robert the Bruce (if it is him) like he supposed to have dressed, something like this:
Spoiler Robert the Bruce :

And not like this :
Spoiler Highlander :

Though I fear that it will be the last.

Somebody should watch Kingdom of Heaven, Game of Thrones, and Merlin. :crazyeye:
I know there are more but I can't think of any others off the top of my head at least that I've seen.

Firaxis does have a poor record of making the Celtic leader wear historically accurate clothing...
