[R&F] Rise and Fall General Discussion Thread

The music is always top-notch.

Also: will there be a new theme for the expansion? It will be a shame to lose Sogno di Volare, but if it's just as good, that's certainly something to look forward to...

Hopefully they have the option to retain whichever theme one prefers with any introduction of a new one. Please don't wait for a second expansion to do the obvious Firaxis!

So.. As a Dutch/American dual national, the day I bury my father in New York, after not having been here in years, we get a trailer with the Dutch Flag waving/falling off of the Statue of Liberty. There has to be some symbolism here...
Sorry to ruin the moment but that's the french flag (since the makers of the statue were french)

Moderator Action: When you use confusing abbreviations don't be surprised if people get confused! Why not stick to the clear Civ 4, 5 & 6? --NobleZarkon

Well, I clarified the abbreviations in my reply... but the context of my comments showed that I was praising 4 not 5, for anyone who has played both :p

However, the flag of New York originates from the Dutch flag...so maybe it's just warped a bit, huh? yeah..that's probably it

New Amsterdam :)

I'm probably one of the few who is excited about the new music that will be added for the eight Civs in this expansion.

I won't be in the States to play the expansion when it comes out. I know the countries I will visiting have Steam, but I will hold off on buying the expansion.
You're not alone. I'm still waiting for the DLC civs' themes to be added to the soundtrack, especially since Poland and Persia have my favorite tracks in the game. :D

The new trailer's theme was definitely distinct from "A New Course," but it still sounded very Christopher Tin. Maybe Tin has been contracted to compose a new theme?

Mongolia's peace theme was my favorite piece in V. It just dawned on me how much I liked separate peace and war themes.
The peace version of "Li Ling Si Han" justified Attila's inclusion. :D Even though the Hun's probably weren't at all related to the Xongnu and were probably Turkic steppe peoples, but again, I'll overlook it for the inclusion of that piece. :p

I already have all the music, including Nubia, the Khmer, and Indonesia. I extracted them from the game files.
It's annoying they have to be converted from wem to ogg to mp3, but at least I figured it out.

The trailer is definitely the intro movie for the expansion. It's kind of a shame that Firaxis revealed it. Did they show the base expansion intro movie before releasing it? I don't remember.

Civ V indeed had some real great music... Now tell me, am I the only one to like Ahmad al-Mansur peace and war (Ahmad and war ) themes? :P

No, but the current intro video was the launch trailer for the base game.

Whenever I play the Moroccan themes in the car, my mom gets scared by the female vocals.

Don't you mean yes Uberfrog? The base game intro movie was the trailer...

So I'm not alone :) I wonder if Mongolian music will be as awesome as Genghis Khan's themes from Civ V.
I bet the old Mongols hated it when their kids played the latest Tuvan
throat-singing hits really loud.

I was going to say "Yes it was the trailer, no it was not shown before release".

But then I realised that "Launch Trailer" means absolutely nothing in the game marketing world, and that the "Launch" trailer came out a few days before the game

So yes they did reveal the intro cinematic (shortly) before release. Oops.

The thing that someone actually gets scared when they hear Moroccan themes... I mean... Lots of people dislike them, but they aren't that bad, or are they? :D

She's afraid of Gandhi's War theme and Songhai themes as well. Something about female vocals/wailing sounding sad startles her.
