[R&F] Rise and Fall General Discussion Thread

UA: Dykes - Can build neighburhoods on coastal tiles next to land. Farms adjacent to coast and rivers gain +1 food.

That would've been a good one as well.

Really thought they would be more economically focused with their UA. On the bright side that saves an extra Economic slot for another civ's ability in the future like Mali or a Medici led Italy. :D

Fifty-eight days to go!

The Ottoman Empire or the Inca Empire would be nice as the third revealed Civ.

But Georgia would be better.

I think they'll save her for last, if she's in. (Of course, I would have predicted that they would have waited longer to reveal the Kilwa Kisiwani.)

I agree. Tamar/Georgia would be a total dark horse. Firaxis would put them last or close to it for shock value.

Canada will probably be last.

The forum would go crazy...

Oh man that alone makes me want to see it.

I just want to see them. The joke has infected me.

Agreed. I'm not that interested in Georgia or Tamar. It went from error to in-joke to meme. I want to see it as a civ so that the journey can be completed.

Canada will probably be last.

Georgia would be even more dark horse than Canada. Some people may suppose Canada because Australia is inside, but I do not think anyone outside the Civfanatcs is guessing at Georgia.

Canada would not be last. From a marketing perspective they will announce all of the Civs that will get people to buy or preorder based on their marketability or intrest. Korea and the Netherlands have a huge player base and were announced first. If Canada is due for release they will not leave them last, they will make sure Canadians are aware of their inclusion to preorder. My bet is that Mongolia will be the last Civ announced and the alt leader will be the week after. (Just like Russia then Gorgo)

The fact that we knew Korea and Mongolia will be in this expansion means they will hit off with one of them was also no surprise and turned out true. And the fact Korea has such a huge player base compared to Mongolia which I cannot imagine is that big (sorry if I am sterotyping) I would imagine that Mongolia will be the nice tidy reassurance on the end.

The fact that for the base game they started of with the 2 biggest markets; United States/America and the United Kingdom/England followed by Japan, China, France then Brazil with the occasional "reasurances" of Egypt inserted (also because Cleopatra as the first leader we had confirmation of so there was no reason to continue to hide her), Scythia for "newness reassurance" and then Germany for Gamescom(?) and then trailing off to eventually end up at Russia then "Surprise Gorgo".

Reading into it, I don't think Mongolia will definitely be last, but I do think it will be a Civ that is not hugely marketable on nationally alone.

(In otherwords, Canada won't be last; if they are to be included they will either be next or the one after or not at all.)

What you said makes a lot of sense, I did not think that the inclusion order of the civs in the base game had so much to do with their game markets. They started with America and England, which have the biggest fan base of civs players, and then continued on to other large and gaming markets, such as Japan, China, France, Brazil, Germany...I do not know if the game market of Egypt is big, but Cleopatra is quite mediatic, so...

They may be doing something similar to Rise and Fall, they start with Korea, which is one of the most important gaming markets, and then introduce the Netherlands, another big gaming market. In this logic, the next one could be the Ottomans (because it is very demanded) or Canada (that has a big fan base of civs players), the last one could be Georgia.

Like the last time, they revealed the two we knew first. If I recall correctly, now is about the time they start stretching out the clues. Just when you get a couple at a decent pace. So now there's 6 new civs & a leader of an existing civ. Personally I've never been a fan of Mongolia. My predictions (aka my wishlist lol):

Korea
Holland
3. Inca
4. Lydia -- I have Lydian blood in my veins. Much like the Taíno in me, the dream will never die.
5. Taíno Nation -- 83 DAYS WITHOUT POWER -- PR se levanta.
6. Mali
7. Portugal
8. Zulu
Additional Leader: Queen Isabella of Castile
