Rise and Rule for Civ3:Conquests

It put all the Medieval Japan stuff in the correct folder.

The folder it put the WW2 Units in is:

Civilization III\Conquests\Scenarios\RAR\Art\Units

Thanks for the link. I didn't follow DocT's thread.

Did you ever get that extra's patch worked out? I didn't see any new units in the Arts folder. But it's already jammed, and I only looked for the one unit that I knew crashed the game.

Hi, I noticed in the map editor, that the icon (#400) for the qin spearman is missing. is this a bug, or did not all my files extract correctly? does anyone if the modmaker used the qin spearman from this forum, because i could just put it in myself, thanks!

Hi!

I encountered a problem when I tried to run RaR mode. It gives me an error message: "Load Error. File not found. Art\Units\Tribe\...\warrior\WarriorRun.amb" and game exits. I have an English C3C 1.22, RaR 1.03 and patched it with Extra_Patch (for missed graphics from PTW). I have that file (WarriorRun.amb) in "Civilization III\Art\units\warrior" folder. Please, answer with your suggestions.

Thanks in anvance!

This mod has made my Civ III experience much better. I play this almost exclusively and have learned city management because of it.

Somewhere in the forums early on, I read where someone, to learn the game, replayed the same game over again from 4000BC. He was able to correct some mistakes in city placement, enemy engagement, but was really playing at new game, just with an idea of what he was getting into.

I have used that theme sometimes to help me understand the AI better and to make adjustments in what I do when I play new games.

I now have a question about the Specialist. I don't know if it goes here, but as this mod has the most Specialist and is the one I play the most, it seems right.

How does the AI choose which Specialist to use when you let it be the Governor? Is there anyway to influence this with the checkboxes? And why do some cities not have any specialists at all? Is this because the food production is not sufficient to support the population?

As I see it, if the food is sufficient, anything in excess of the squares under management, should go to Specialist. Am I correct?

Thanks to all for helping me understand the Major Port. I had added to the Mod to have the Major Port create a ship every 20 turns and was trying to understand why I could not build one and the AI always did build one.

@chem1:

That's an odd, but classical Civ3 bug. Didn't see it for years, so I'm not sure if I remember the details exactly, but the issue was something like that (could be exactly the other way around, though!):
In some installations of Civ3, that particular file is named WarriorRun .amb (notice the space!), while most mods ask for a WarriorRun.amb (correct spelling).
Solution: Copy your existing file, add/remove the SPACE, and paste it into the very same folder; do not simply rename, or you'll encounter the next crash...

@Ward:

IIRC nobody ever figured out which Spec the AI/ City Governor picks. In RaR, it becomes pretty obvious that somethig went wrong here - both usually pick a 2beaker-Professor instead of a 3coin-Tycoon...even if you run 0%research...

re: Major Ports - Tha AI mostly builds them due to its obsession with culture (but that's intended here, MPs are preferable to Aquaducts!).

Thank you Doc for the reply. I guess there is no real reason for some of the things that the AI does other than it takes the most recent item and builds that, like when flight is researched, it makes the bomber the default build for weapon vice artillery.

I know this is a little off-topic, but is there a forum running for a CIV IV version of RAR?

Just noticed that this thread was started 100 pages and 2 years ago...

One thing I wonder about, just OOC:

Does anyone (TF, Isak, Kal-El) have the slightest clue how many downloads of RaR (or DyP) were made?

(@rabber: There was one, but not even I can access it any longer...can't tell if RaR for CIV is really on a hiatus, but I for one do not participate any more, having technical issues with CIV)

First Congrats to the whole team made this an icon. Being it was featured in mags, Civ complete(sorta) and never left the top twenty spots on the Moding Countdown (Mods forum) since its arrival day one, I could see the number you seek as being a very high one.

Tech problems? You mean slowdowns and crappy Gameplay in the Late Ages or using to many Civs, or on a Huge map or having a Multiplayer game? No this is all part of the game( even for those who deny it ;) )

Worse.
You complain about sth that was expected - games today are developed for high-end machines for gameplay purposes, not for the machines people like me (and supposedly you as well) own to work with.
But I did not exactly expect that I wouldn't be able to patch my (working) CIV 1.00 installation...or uninstall CIV...or install Warlords..."No valid installation of CIV detected"...but, the installer detects *something*...and refuses to re-install!
(No, it's not about some official reg keys, I know how to fiddle with those; I suppose there are as well some hidden ones, for copy protection issues)

But anyway, after a year of no C3C and occasional CIV I prolly had to accept I do like C3C more.
It's just that I play to relax - and the one thing I hate here is 'time pressure', or RTS feeling...or multiplayer. I want the freedom to pause or leave my place in front of the screen whenever I want, and not being forced to carefully watch a 10 minute interturn to not miss some stupid messages which appear to be in 1pt letters. Or, to not miss when a city disappears from the map, only because it was captured. Interesting ***cough*** idea...wonder if Berlin e.g. disappeared from all world maps when the Russians captured it in 1945.

I downloaded the file and tried to play the extended version, but in the Read Me file it says that the game is not yet complete. But I was trying to play the extended version. I had over 50000 in culture before 540 turns and but it did not recognize it. Now at turn 520, the message comes that the game will end in 20 turns. Why did the game not recognize my 50000 culture and give me victory. And when will the extended version be available. I am a new member.

I bought Civ3 about 9 months ago, my all time favorite game replacing MOO2. Recently I put in the Mod RaR 1.02, and it is definitly double my pleasure. I have found a BIG bug in my game. I don't know if it is just poor install or somehow user error.

I am playing as the English. In the beginning of the game I knowticed that when I sued for peace my people generally got unhappy. I thought at first that maybe that was some sort of ethnic or goverment trait new to RaR. Well now I am Fuedal Republic. A weak India has declared war on me, their best friend in the world. I lost three luxuries but people dont seem too affected. A few turns later I sue for peace and build the Stutue of Liberty in the same turn. Now here is the strange thing, aproximately 15/24 cities go into civil unrest. My people are War Mongers, they thrive during war!? I went back to redo that turn, built the Statue but did not sue for peace. My cities did not go into civil unrest but a few of my citizens were unhappy about the Statue.

Has anyone heard of this problem? Is there a patch that I missed? I installed 1.03 but I don't think that is a fix for this. Hope to hear from someone. Thank You
