the 3ddownloads mirror isnt working for me is thereany where else i can get it?
Try here.

I'm just about ready with 1.03, so there will be a more 'official' release of it this weekend.

Also, fileplanet have (finally) put the file up, so you can now also get the mod from there if 3ddownloads is giving you trouble. I'll put a link on the RAR site a.s.a.p., but otherwise, just search through the mod section of fileplanet.com

I just installed the update version of 1.02...

Can anyone confirm the following for me?

I noticed that all the worker values have changed from 100, 125, 175, etc. to zero.

Did this occur only in the update version or in both the update and full download? Any known reason why?

To check - use the editor to compare the work value in the middle left part of the unit editor screen... (below the attack and movement values)

As described on the pages before, this is a bug with 1.02 (caused by adding units) and it is fixed in v1.03.

Excellent Mod! 99% of the time once the mod community for a game get something usable together I am on to newer games but in this case my latent CivAddiciton has been stoked to a fever pitch. Thanks to the RaR team for all the work. :D

My main problem at this point is I would love to play some of the Game of the Month type contests, I play emp & demi pretty well and can win with all elements random a good %age of the time. However when I open up the GOTM and look at the tech tree I almost weep, what is all that white space! And playing the game I feel like I am driving through nebraska, a long straight road to nowhere interesting. Non-RaR civ is too booring for words now, if any of the powers that be are listening please consider a RaR GOTM.

As for the mod:

1. I am a little confused about the agicultural trait, it seems they get a bonus to food which seems reasonable however they also get more exspensive settlers, was the population growth bonus considered to be too large otherwise? It seems the non-ag civs get an advantage until Absolutism when the poulation costs become equal. I know the intent was to make a slower starting game (and I appreciate that) but now it seems kind of a crap shoot when you settle your capitol since many of the food boosters are invisible (to you) when you start the game. The more I have played I have gotten better at those first few difficult expansions (never had to use luxury slider before republic in vanilla civ) but some games I have had to abandon in disgrace after finding I was still trying to pop a settler and my neighbors had 4-5 cities each and completely surrounded me.. and that stack of champions does not look very friendly.. :P

2. At Emperor the difficulty starting out seems pretty good, the AI beat the tar out of me on techs, units etc. until I make some decent trades (usualy with the help of philosophy) but by the industrial age I am either in complete control of the game or watching TV after being crushed before the middle ages. I think the massive increase in flexibility RaR offers benefits the human more than the AI so I don't blame the mod for this. At any rate it would be nice if the AI was a little more competetive in the late game, I have not seen many of the modern units etc. since the game does not usualy get that far before I get bored of trying to prop up my enemies so I can knock em down again. Isn't there something we can learn from the modern experience in Iraq, Israel, chechnya (sp?), Angola etc. about the real difficulty of occupation which is not reflected in Civ? I seem to remember playing civ in black and white on an old mac (civ I maybe?) and on conquoring a modern city occasionaly a swarm of partisans would form around it to beat the snot out of my weakend invaders. The civil disobediance in civ now does not seem nearly as difficult to deal with making warmongering wins very appealing.

Perhaps a Insurgent unit that can only be pop-rushed and has low attack rating but each attack causes an increase in the war-weariness of the opponent? I suppose even if it was possible the AI might not use them so it would just help the player.

I suppose ya'll are tied down by hardcoded Civ but if you can tweak the AI to be more competetive in the later stages I would appreciate it.

3. After RaR, Civ IV better be really f'ing complex and subtle or it will feel like a step back, eye candy or no.

Recently downloaded this mod and its awesome! I'm the builder and researcher type so this mod fits great for my style of play. Quick question though.

I'm currently playing as the Americans and have now realized that the Iroquoi (sp) and I are the only ones on North America. I had planned to build up and destroy them but now I'm not so sure. With so many techs in this mod it seems wiser to let them exist so they can develop techs I'm not researching. I figure if I destroy them I could easily fall behind on techs with the other civs I haven't met.

Granted, once I meet other civs I'll probably begin mobilizing to destroy the Iroguoi (man that doesn't look right). Any advice gladly appreciated.

Unlike regular civ3, there is no minimum research time, so as long as you can maintain the entire area corruption-free (ie no lost beakers), lost science is not a reason not to take over territory.

Played this mod before and enjoyed it. I downloaded the new version. but while playing as the aztecs, I got a message when I researched bronze working.
Load Error

This game will now exit

Hope someone can help me out. I downloaded the necessary patches and everything. Hope someone can help.

I've found the reason why the game don't load automatically the last game saved. It's coming from the name of the month added between the name of the player and the year. It's enough to delete it to have the game loading the last game saved.

Example.
the game will automatically write your saved game as:
Nikox of the Germans, Jan., 60 AD.SAV

save it as:
Nikox of the Germans, 60 AD.SAV

...and it will work.

Otherway you need to change the scenario properties with an editor set the base unit time back to years and if you wanna play more turns use game settings under your leaderhead name in the starting screen (where you choose opponents and game level)

Are you playing the extended game? I think they did something with the year labels, or counters, or whatever you want to call it. That will cause the problem because of the comma (I think) in the file name. Now, why a comma makes a big deal, I don't know.

But I do know that the 'standard' game doesn't suffer from this problem.

I'm playing 1.02 extended. And yes, they changed "the base unit time" (it's a property of the .biq file) in "monthes" instead of "years" as it is in the previous version or in the original game.

I think it's a bug of FIRAXIS...

Thanks, Nikox. I'd been wondering why the automatic load wasn't working. Of course, it wasn't a big deal to manually load the latest game.

BTW, I discovered one of the changes in 1.02/1.03 is that Admirals of the Fleet now upgrade to Iron Frigates instead of Battleships.

I'm still looking for a place where I can download the 1.03.
Can you post a link pls??

Thanks!

You only have to delete the "." after the month ;).
", 60AD.SAV" is not a valid file extension...
The same happens with saves from the Napoleonic Conquest, btw.

Get the 1.03 from that post.

Hi there!
Just downloaded the 1.03 Patch...
A question before I install it: Do I need RaR 1.02 in order to be able to install 1.03 or is it a stand alone?
:D

RAR is the best civ3mod i've ever played. it really gives me so much fun. i just want to know how to get a real world map so that i can play the game much closer to the realism. Anybody can help me out? :)
