Rise and Rule for Civ3:Conquests

Hello RaR fans I recently downloaded this mod after reading all the good feedback in this thread. Looking at all the cool sh-t in the civapedia had me even more impressed to say the least! I noticed some resources are updated with higher food output to reflect advances in technology. The ones I am thinking of are cereal and cattle. Its a great way to add more realism for sure, but I'm having a problem with one of these. I noticed the first cereal resource called "CEREAL #1" has +5food awarded to it when in my city radius, but +3 in the civapedia. This is what "CEREAL#3" is suppose to have!
How can this be? they are different icons, yet the "+5 food" given to "CEREAL #3" after genetics is discovered, is also given to "CEREAL#1", at the start of the game. This of course cancels the purpose of the resource. Now I'm sure this was sorted out some time ago, or mybe its a newbie mistake?:) I did look back and couldn't find anything helpful, so I would be very grateful if someone with more knowledge could explain this for me. Thanks.
I have the latest version of RnR posted to date and am wondering if something messed up in patching from 1.02 to 1.03 bic file.
Please note that I"m not complaing. I love the mod and its of little consiquence to the overall gameplay Im sure, just something that kind of bugged me when i tried it out (no pun intended):smoke:

Oh Jeez. I guess I should of cruized the instruction manual before I posted for help on this thread. Why I didn't factor in the terrain bonus is beyond me.:crazyeye: Thanks, UnderDawg! for clearing that up for me so fast.
Its good to see there is such solid tech support on this mod site.:scan: Cheers! to RnR!!

Hey! Where is everyone finding RaR 1.03? I've got 1.02 installed, and it's great, but as you're all aware, some bugs...

Cheers mate! Last time I looked there, I couldn't find any such thing, but I'll try again.

Say, I found the 1.03 patch on an obscure post (928) I remeber having a hard time finding it on the main page to. Oh well. Hope it helps someone. Later!

No, it isn't on the website. I looked, but there was only ver1.02 on that site.:(

I looked on post 928, but all I found was 1.02ver patch, What is up???????

T.A Jones, you are a shining example of efficiency. Found that post on page 47. Downloaded the patch, haven't tried it yet. Perhaps that link should be posted somewhere obvious? It is, however, only a beta patch, so I trust a final one hasn't been posted somewhere else equally obscure?

Glad I could help man. The 1.03 patch you got there is the only one they released. The extended version won't work on any patch. I mean the game won't be longer, besides that, everything works great.!:) You'll have to fix that yourself. Click on the RaR file that has the conquest logo (bic file) look in the scenario properties screen to plan the amount of turns you want (915 is what they picked) and save it. Now yer up to date with the lastest.
Oh ya, If want to fill in the ?'s (missing icon pictures), in the civapedia, check out Nikox's RaR graphics patch thread. Its buried in the graphics downloads. Just a little heads up, download all the files in the Nikox thread, or it won't work. No other patch updates the missing graphics for 1.02 or 1.03.
I think thats it. She's about as smooth as she's gunna get. Dam Beaut of a mod I must say!!. [pimp] Later.

I realize that resources are being put into Civ4 now, but does anyone know if any art has been produced to add to RaR 1.02 for buildings/wonders that say "we are sorry..."? I would like to improve my Civ3 RaR gaming experience. My appologies if this is the wrong thread for this post.

 Oh Gee! :undecide:

Um Tex, did you by chance read this thread first before you posted?, Ok well how about just the last post then?

No sweat man.:) We all miss things sometimes..;) Like I said earlier.... Nixox RaR graphics patch is buried deep in the graphics modpacks forum. Members can reach it faster by going to post {939} on pg 47 of this thread

I'm a total idiot! I was being lazy and did not browse the thread. I just recently got back into playing civ again since last fall (major computer failure) so I haven't kept up with the forum and developments. Thanks for helping Jones. I'll be back if I need more assistance.

Hey Isak, you probably dont read this forum anymore but if you do PLEASE MAKE A RISE AND RULE FOR CIV 4 that would be awesome. You could use the realism mod as a base because they have done a lot of unit balancing but they havent added a lot of techs and stuff.

It is already in the works (however, in the very beginning).See post #1921 for a link to the official RaRCiv4 forum.

Nikox' infamous page 47 post: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=2468714&posted=1#post2468714

Oh, man, even more work to do.

I haven't played in so stinkin' long I can't even remember what its like anymore. A long time ago I did a DYP mod to Marla's excellent real-Earth map. And then RaR came out.

Then TetK came out with his awesome large map.

All I can say is that my hat is off in salute to you guys. I understand what's involved in making this mod (because of my efforts), and I also understand why there aren't any world maps for DYP/Rar (because its a monumental epic undertaking to place the resources, hooking up all the units, etc. and everything). I truly appreciate (and understand the magnitude) all the work expended in putting this creation out.

The first time I played DYP I was hooked. When RaR came out I was electroshock therapied to love nothing but RaR. It is SO cool (words fail me). The closest competition is TetK's scenario/map, and I understand why it takes as long as it does to come out with these things: there is so much work involved in these creations. I spent literally months updating just the Excel spreadsheet (hey I'm a systems analyst - documentation is everything) to get the latest RaR to conform to mods I've already implemented to previos versions. I literally spent months researching placement of all the resources (except for one thing: all the resources are on Marla's small map). Now I have to transpose the placement of ALL the resources from Marla's small map to TetK's BIG map. What a chore.

Everytime I open up the editor and look at the map, ALL the resources are still in their same positions. I close the editor, and hop into the cockpit of my Ferrari F2002 racer (or -16 block 52) and tool around for a little while. A week or so later, I open up the scenario in the editor and the same resources are still in the same places. The gnomes are clearly not doing their job. I've spent so many heartbeats modding Falcon4, F12002, MoO3, Sub Command, Unreal Tournament its ridiculous. Sigh.

Oh, man, woe be me.

I refuse to play unmodded CivIII (can't afford to upgrade), and won't play CivIII without my vision incorporated into the scenario I do play.

I hope that this post doesn't sound like I'm complaining. Because that would be akin to me complaining about all the slopes before me that absolutely need to be skied. :D :goodjob:  :woohoo: :old: :hammer2: :badcomp: :snowcool: :hatsoff: :cooool:

Nice thoughts. This mod blew the top off what I had expected a mod could do in relation to size and variation.
Thanks for linkin that Nilox thread for me, This a strange thread indeed! I couldn't think of any other thread that gets more hits without takin a bump (sticky not included)
Next...
Has anyone noticed when you go to next 2nd Era you get this "missing file" error "Civepedia "shipyardmidpcx" . Its cause there was never a era specific set of icons included with the ship yard download. (not to my knowledge) Still I can't complain. Nikox was the only guy who wasn't to lazy or bothered patching up those big screaming blue ? (for 1.02) They wern't just seen in the pedia, you saw them in the flow charts and when you advanced a new tech, so Yaaay for Nikox!! :)

Anyway peeps who don't know how to fix, its a sinch. I erased the "era" pedia icons listed for the shipyard in the text file, and left only the ancient set of icons, and reverted to the "single" entry format (meaning only one picture for all the eras) and saved. Similar prob with the forge(except no error), the middle age ERA icon is invisable! I just reverted to single format using the ancient anvil icon . No big deal anyways...
What was with deal with the big heated exchange between Nixox and Rufus (don't call me Fufus) Firefly. in the end Nikox had enough from everyone and just disapeared It all started over being critized for not giving proper creds.

What Nikix did is still in heavy demand(case in point this added link)
Its only in the rarest occassions a mod is released this professional and polished looking (almost like official exp pak) When little things are missing on such a far reaching and otherwize 100% complete project, those miniscule lil imperfections are magnified 100x and hard to ignore, Its hard to explain its like the same thing occuring in the original Civ3 game. You coudn't see past it,not cause you paid $ but cause you think Why is everything else done and not this.it glares at you makes you wonder. Ya know?
Im not the the only one who wants to fill in the holes before sailing off on a 915 turn jouney through that largest and most complete(besides the Balancer Reloaded) reality mod of all time. Just check this out.....

What were the odds? ! I mention a obscure Nikox thread off topicly to Jock, who was talkin bout the 1.03 patch, post{1933}.pg97, The next post{1934} has another guy looking for Nikox's same precise fix, and he's completly oblivious to the fact that it was just given by chance, above in a offtopic reply. the fact he never even knew Nikox thread existed makes me say. "how strange is that". Really this whole Nikox thing is freaky biz indeed :dubious:
