What???

This mod isn't completed yet? I just don't like playing incompleted mods.

Is this mod completed or not?

I'm just guessing here, but all I've noticed that is "incomplete" are some of the icons for a couple techs and buildings.

There may be more that I'm not aware of.

(...) So this mod deserves lots of strategy articles. Maybe they could be a separate thread. RAR strategies. Somebody that didn't just download the mod yesterday should start it.(...)

Yes, thats true - since it plays so different from the standard game, nearly every aspect demands new strategies.A seperate strategy thread sounds like a nice idea...but...I think one threed would become too crowdy. However there is an entire forum for DyP/RaR strategies - at CDG.Here is the link:

http://www.cdgroup.org/forums/tbs/civ3/viewforum.php?f=44

Ok, you have to sign up before you can post...but everyone who gets addicted to the mod will not regret it ;) And chances to get are quite high...

(...) I just have one question: Is there a a readme file that has a list of everything that's included in the mod (not just the changed/updated list) ? (...)

No, not really.IIRC, there was such at thing for an earlier version of DyP, it is still on the official website of the mod.But no for RaR (at least yet). The problem is such a list gets outdated quickly -especially as long as the mod is still developed and major chances are made- and it takes a lot of time to make it... The final goal is to make the civilopedia a complete information source about the mod...but this will take time.

Again, complete is subjective...and name on mod which is "complete" with V1.0 IMO, it isn't complete...but I don't see it as problem...I would rather say it is an opportunity to contribute to further development. You can bring in your ideas...
In fact, my wish is that Conquests isn't complete - if Firaxis or Atari consider it to be complete there will be no more patches ;)

(...) I've noticed that when the Precision Missile uses a Precision Strike, it doesn't get used up....Regular bombard uses up the Precision Missile however.(...)

Seems to be another bug...I guess the only way to solve it is removing precision strike. Thanks for reporting it.

whenever i try to build an apache gunship, a line comes up that says apache.ini ( not the exact line but to some extent) could not be found and the game will now exit

Great mod, it's rekindled my interest in Civ3! A few minor bugs:

) From the beginning of the game (i.e. doesn't seem tech dependent) Curraughs can traverse oceans safely. I first noticed this while playing the Vikings, so it may affect only those nations with the seafaring trait. When you drag out a multimove, it's sorta humorous to see numbers appearing in coastal waters, then blanks in the sea squares, and then numbers again when you reach the ocean tiles

2) Troubadors cause an extremely annoying recurring sound that won't stop even if you kill or disband the unit. Unlike most units, these guys have a "default.wav" file, which seems to be the problem. You can't delete the file, so the only way to continue the game without permanently shutting off the sound was to substitute a 0db file.

3) Clicking on any Sun Tzu link displays a "not found" message.

4) Good idea to increase the tech research times. One suggestion in that vein - the "Dark Ages" currently only last about 4-5 turns, making them more like the "Dark Minutes". Consider making this a true Technology Dead Zone - either a very long research period or add a prereq tech that obsoletes many of the science improvements (if possible, have at least some of these "resurrected" by other techs in the following age)

Disregard my earlier post about League of Nations. He hadn't turned the Allow Diplomatic Victory condition on when he started the game.

Here's another poser. I was looking at one of my newer cities and noticed it wasn't showing any strategic resources in the upper left corner of the city screen even though that city had rubber and saltpeter connected in its radius. After flipping around I found that none of my cities were showing strategic resources on the city screen.

Click on the Eye in the FatX. I'm guessing it's new to C3C, because I don't remember this in PTW. But they're there.

It is a complete, fully playable, pretty well-tested Mod. The bugs found so far are peanuts compared to the bugs found in c3c1.0

It is incomplete in a way a Mod is never "finished". And, some eye candy like icons, parts of the civilopedia and gazillions of improved animations haven't been included so far. And the sound files require some work.

Hey everyone, I love the mod so I don't want to appear critical when I point out some of the bugs (or what I think are bugs). But I noticed that the PPS-15 Radar, you can only use it's reconaissance on the tile it is standing on.

Ok, Ive finally finished my first game of RaR and I must say that it was one of the best games of civ I've EVER played (second only to RoR)
The tech tree was VERY overwhelming at first but once I got to the second age I realised that I should only research electable techs only if I really needed them.
My territory had absolutely NO iron for the most part of the game, this made conquest extremely difficult in the first age, it wasn't until I got the horse archery tech that I was able to take my first city . also the massive upgrade costs forced me to actually build new units as I progressed rather than spending a few hundred gold to upgrade a unit. although once I got to the industrial age and realised republic was much better than a monarchy i was able to upgrade a lot

One issue I noticed while conquering the world during the late industral and early modern age is that there is a rather large inbalance during this time. the best defensive unit is the machine gunner with 8 def. once you get tanks then you can have a defense of 10 although they're better suited for offense. this creates a situation of a 14 attacker going against a 8 defender, which isn't too bad. The problem in my eyes is since upgrading cost SOOO much the AI is stuck with either riflemen or trenchers, with 4 and 5 defense respectively. this means there's now a 14 attacker going against a 5 defender, the tank will almost NEVER lose and makes conquest simple.
Also, I think that armies arel a bit overpowered.

Anyways, thanks for a great mod :goodjob: now I must catch up with all the things I've neglected during my game :crazyeye:

This is a great mod! I like it how each civlization's unit look different from another. And the tech tree, WOW!

By the way, does anyone know how I can play Rhye's world map with this mod?

really enjoying that 180x180 world map RAR 1.00b11 (Jarette v1.0) map, link posted by Pfeffersack on the page before this one (i think). at first i didn't like it, really slow in the beginning, just too much conflict at the very opening of the game, etc. but after getting into it a ways i really like this map, it has a lot of great features that i didn't understand until i was well on my way. i won't post any spoilers but don't read any further if you want a complete surprise when you play the map ... ok, so if you're still reading you don't care then. i really like all the barbarians. i didn't like it at first but it seems like a good idea after playing for a while. it reminded me of those old documentary programs called the "ascent of man" where the very earliest settlements found, like at jericho, were tiny little walled towns, back in the days when warfare wasn't about teaching someone a lesson but was about protecting your grain stores against really hungry nomads. i like how you have to tip-toe around in the beginning of the game, protect your workers, etc, and how it's a huge relief when you finally beat the barbarians back out of your borders so you can actually build some roads and connect up some resources. it seems like how a civ game should be, having to work for it, and having some areas that are basically too much trouble to settle early in the game. and i like how culture is so important early on playing this map. and i REALLY like that the tech race is slowed down so much, it makes the game much more playable in my opinion (of course the mod is a treasure now and forever in any case, it totally rocks). the slower progress in tech to me is a real game play improvement, it gives you a chance to get a forge or two built before you get to the middle ages. :) lots of fun this map. oh and i like how canoes and things take on a whole new importance in the face of so many barbarians, and harbors for trade routes. there's just something entertaining about having to really try hard to clear out the foothills so you can get a road built between your two major cities, i don't think i was ever so happy to build a road haha. this map almost adds a whole new age to the game, the barbarian age, where it's just too dangerous to walk around without a bodyguard, and that age ends when you finally muster up enough strength to clean up your own country, then it's civ as usual. before playing this map i'd never created a warrior i knew was going to lose a fight with a barbarian and sacrificed him just to get the barbarian to walk outside of my borders to heal itself so i could do some digging while it was gone lol. on the downside it sure is slow though. and the AI seems to be having at least a small amount of trouble with the barbarians. i'm sure there was a more appropriate thread for this message, but i didn't see it and i did look! :)

hey, I just got an idea, I dunno if its plausible or not, but I believe the first nuclear bombs were carried by plane and dropped. I was thinking that this could be a nuclear bomber unit, or maybe you could load special nukes that have no range and could only be delivered via plane onto these nuclear bombers. Just a thought

I was looking through the files and an Atomic Bomber unit seems to be in the works. It's currently disabled, so I guess they have yet to work out the bugs with it. Don't know if it'll end up in later versions though.

Can somone please upload the file harboransmall.pcx in art/civilopedia/icons/buildings/harboransmall.pcx please?

I loaded the game and it says I'm missing this file. It worked this morning, but I after I used Firefly T. Rufus's new icons this happened! And i didn't backup the original file.

So somehow, this file got deleted. Can somone upload it....

Would Somone Be Nice And Upload The Whole Civilopidia Buildings Fodler Please! I Am Missing So Many Files From It For Some Reason!

-.- this is off topic and spammy, but what does ROF(rate of fire) do, I cant find it in the civ 3 faq or in my civpedia :(

Rate of fire: if a unit has a ROF of 3, for example, it bombards 3 times-it has a chance to deal 3 damage to a unit. Each check for a point of damage is calculated independently of the others.
Note that in the case of defensive bombardment, ROF always equals 1.

This is going to sound dumb, but I honestly feel like I'm the only person here who DOESN'T know how to install mods into my civilization game. I have conquests and the latest patch, but I never am able to correctly install it. I downloaded it twice all ready and always mess up somehow.

Can anyone please give me a layman's ( basic! ) step-by-step process to how I am can install this? please, I know it needs to go in the civIII/scenerios/folder..but...where exactly DO I put it? Do I type it in somewhere or am I supossed to find it in my browse..option? As you guess, I'm horrible at computers... gar..

Oddly enough, I did play this game before all the updates. You'd be amazed how mad I was when I reached the first Tank units and my game crashed. :( But all in all, This is a great game. ( and I'd really really like to get to the modern age! :) )

Please help?
