You have to actually replace the core pediaIcons.txt file, and a few others if I recall correctly, because the current release doesn't play nice with mods. You can't just drop the mod into the Scenarios folder. This is one of the many reasons we are waiting for Aspyr's patch.
The above initial comment you made now seems to contrast what you just wrote about basically dropping the mod folder and two biqs into the Scenarios folder?
OK, yeah, I've got down the process you described in the last post for installing mods. This sounds like the general, no tweaking necessary method. For instance, I've added the Lord of the Rings mod and an updated Balancer mod this same way: the folder and the biq files go in the Scenarios folder, after which they show up in the Civ Content menu. I believe I first tried doing exactly this process with Rise and Rule 1.02. I'm downloading it again fresh to try it from scratch, and won't modify any terrain pcx files or anything else.
EDIT: Redownloaded RaR 1.02 and finally it appears to be working. Hooray!
EDIT 2: There are missing Unit art files, etc. that also need to be downloaded and added to make RaR 1.02 run with Conquests. I had already downloaded these prior and added them in after I got an error/exit. I'm on a second game seeing if there are any more issues.
Now if I could only resolve two other mod problems I am having (I dropped the biqs and folders into the Scenarios folder as I did with RaR):
Balancer v3.5: does not enable any civ to build settlers; they don't appear in the build menu choices. Everything else seems to run fine. I played a long time before I gave up ever having the option to build a settler.
Camelot: I get the following pediaicon crash message very similar to the one here for RaR involving building the early Beowulf wonder which appears to be a modified Statue of Zeus.
Thanks for the patient assistance. At least I finally appear to be making some headway. Now if I could just get a saved game to load too...
