Rise From Medieval Kingdoms III, Thread Two

Equul, Charles, send me some damn orders. You have 24 more hours before I skip you (And this will be VERY bad for you, Equul).

Time up, Equul and Charles, I declare you skipped.

Thomas, can you please tell me what your non-joint (I already know what Gates of Gibraltar and PEOM do) still-useful projects do?

1515-1530 Anno Domini

So, what's this? The Caliph has to do the Pope's work again? Yay, more work. Oh well, it wasn't that much, right? I mean how hard could it be to invent stuff, draw maps, and report the news of the world?

And there sure was a fair amount of it. In Northern Europe, the Holy German empire had officially been pwned, served on a silver platter, and eaten. Their military was not told to do anything, so nothing was done to stop the invading armies of the "Red Coalition" as the Germans call them, probably due to their all using reddish colors.

Anyway, they did a fair amount of damage. England pushed Southeastward, and took the German capital of Aachen. Their gigantic army swept everything in their away aside, and they took a great deal of land, not only Aachen, but a nearby resource, and the city of Frankfurt. The German government has re-located to Vienna.

In the east, Russia invaded and took the Northern coastline, then swept south to Stuttgart and besieged it. Somebody came up with the great idea of poisoning the Elbe River to starve out the citizens of Stuttgart, but they didn't expect all that would happen as a result of that. First, they used a little too much poison, and although they did succeed in killing a lot of Stuttgart's citizens, they also killed a fair amount of the wildlife in the surrounding area, and the poison didn't only affect Stuttgart- it went downriver, too, having similar effects pretty much all along it, including the city of Hamburg, and some of it even reached the North Sea.

(The area of the map with the green lines running through it is "poisoned" this turn, so nobody wants to be there, taking away some of the bonus of cities/resources in the area, much like certain pollutants would do in the real world. Yes, I know, kind of unrealistic this is, but random events I can't usually do, and Stuck in Pi's poison the river idea gave me a perfect way to make one. :))

Also, the Russians took the city of Saxony.

In the south, the Argotians managed some swift manouvering and strategic troop movements, they took the cities of Turin, Venice, Istrinio, and Zagreb, and the Black German resource. Germany is down to 3 cities and lacks a coastline. They is screwed.

The Ottomans continued to be quite active, and found a creative way to use gold: Bribery. If they couldn't advance quickly through military means, why not just give some people gold to join them? As a result, they managed to gain control of the Fatamid Islands in the Aegean Sea, as well as Cyprus.

Of course, military they did a lot of too. They invaded Halicarnassus and Antalya with a giant army, and the Fatamids were, well, pwned. The only city they still have control of in Anatolia is Geldopolous, and given that it has been shelled to death by the Ottoman navy, resulting in the destruction of the Castle and fort, this city will probably be Ottoman soon.

Speaking of the Fatamids, they are under the control of a new leader. Perhaps he'll be better at stopping them...

Arabia did nothing. Their citizenry grows restless at this.

Echajinia has created a colony on Greenland, named... Uh... Frederickshaab?

They also decided that they couldn't hold onto Eastern Europe, so they gave it to Crimea in the hopes that they'll be able to defend it. The Ottomans still choose not to attack it...

In the Azores, the Tercierans claimed some islands, and built a city that currently lacks a name.

The Americas have woken up, smelled the roses, went back to sleep again for 5 minutes, pressed the "Snooze" button on their alarm clocks, and finally went to the day's business. Mostly, it had to do with barbarians. For example, the Aztecs invaded Tlaxcala and took Tlaxcala city. The Tlaxcalans have retrated to the west and will soon die.

Valdius-Terra has suddenly appeared on the map, but is still being set up and its affairs are unknown.

On the island of Hispaniola, the Argotians have colonized and the Louisianans have invaded. The barbarians known as Haiti are nearly dead.

On Cuba, the Caribbean Barbs faired better, killing a lot of the people of the as-of-yet-undefended Gibraltan Colony of Cuba. If Gibraltar's military doesn't get there soon, the colony will fall.

Cuba was also colonized by the Mayans. Yawn.

Southern Florida is now the site of a colony of Gibraltar. Yawn.

So, that's what happened the past 15 years, some exciting, some not exciting. Storm on the horizon maybe, blah blah blah.

New Technology:

Caravels:
These new ships are small and fast, built for long voyages. Researching this tech will give +5% to exploration, and +10% to naval combat (as if we ever have a lot of that ) Cost: 85 TP.

Nice update. Two things.

1. Where's the map? Or haven't you gotten that far yet? I only ask because you mentioned green lines on a map.

2. What are the specific effects of the poison? Like, what does it do?

It just means that Hamburg and Stuttgart will give their owners jack sh*t this turn. :)

oops... :hide:

Until kill fire gives me the computer I've saved them on, I can't update the post. Be mad at him. :)

Stats, Map updated.

Nobody PM me for a while, my box is full. :)

Y'know, for being perhaps the smallest nation in the world, my GPT isn't that bad. Also, did you give the Fatimads a new color, or did my monitor go whack? They appear almost black.

Just noticed in my city stats: The cities of Cork, Limerick, Dublin, Amsterdam, Leeuwarden and Copenhagen need to be added to the list, the cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow need to be removed from the list, and the city of Lelystad needs to be added to the list and labeled on the map (the 'dot' is there, just no name). I also assume my GPT needs to be updated as such, since none of these cities were taken into account.

@mythmonster - your monitor must be having fits, because I see the map fine.

Wouldn't we need a map to the Americas to trade with you?

@Merciary

The Emissary from gibraltar respectfully asks for military assistance against the caribs, until our own troops arrive.

@BL: Yes, you would need a map to trade with new world nations, and the error in your stats hath been fixed.

People, you can send orders now, you know.

@myth: No, it's the same color. Your monitor's bugged.

And you sent me the same PM twice, BTW. :p

Yes, please do so. :)

To all non-American nations - I have 3 resources to trade.

@choxorn - thanks
