Rise of Mankind 2.81 feedback and bug reports

Most players disagree. If anything abusing a SE is even easier in RoM than BTS. Patrician gives +1 gold per specialist, and so does Adam Smith's Trading Co. With both of those, you can let specialists power your economy for ages to come, and outstrip the AI real easily.

Patrician+Adam+Masada+Angkor Wat=priests give 3:hammers:, 2:gold:
+Sistine+Egalitarian/Progressive+unlimited priests=1-2 free priests giving 3:hammers:, 2:gold:, 2:culture:

And still, base cost was increased by 50% and initial stats remain the same while tiles yield more.

There might be wonders to even this out later on. Yet - you need to build these wonders, they don't come early and you can't be sure to get them on a decent difficulty.

Early is what matters. Later on, everyone uses specialists anyway due to availability of free specialists and excess food.

Hey fellas
I took the mega RoM 2.8 version today, and then patched it to 2.81.
Everything works well only one thing that gets on my nerves.

When I have to chose a Civ or a leaderhead that has been added by customization, well a couple of them just don't have any name (civs as much as leaderheads)
This is pretty annoying because I don't know who i'm playing with or against.

this occurs as much as in the menu than during a game.

Am i the only one with that problem? I searched the thread and did not find it...

Thanks and keep up this awesome work!

RESOLVED: btw, I was a bit stupid, I had to switch to "english" to see the full names during gameplay

Does the nanite fog (can't recall the exact name, but the one that gives +50% :hammers:) have the same meltdown chance as regular nuclear reactors? I hated them in vanilla Civ4, and avoided them for power generation in my current game as well but the fog production bonus was just too juicy to pass up.

It hasn't been that long since I made the fog to my 12 or so largest cities, and already 2 of them had the meltdown. Now I'm not necessarily saying it should be changed since the bonus is awesome, just curious since while in this game I managed to get the Dam world wonder, in later games I might have to make do with nuclear power.

I can't play my own savegame anymore (2,17mb) Giant - 2055AD
(savegame fully loads - but I can only play the current turn, after that the error message appears)

Code:
Failed to allocate video memory. Please try reducing your graphics settings.
File:\Source\main\Civilization4\SDKs\Gamebryo2_0\C oreLibs\NIDX9Renderer\NIDX9VBManager.cpp, Line:1019

System: XP Service Pack 3, P4 3Ghz, 3Gb RAM, Geforce 7800 GS 256MB
Tried: 3GB Switch, low graphics settings, lowered resolution to 600x400 - nothing works

Notice: when the savegame is fully loaded, the total Commit Charge comes very close to peak! But the CPU performance as well as the physical memory stay comparatively normal.

Only chance is to lower the graphics to absolute minimum and disable animations, enable single unit graphics and so on. Giant and Gigantic Maps are a real video memory hog, I had problems with Giant and Medium Graphics with a 512MB card in the late game where everything is explored and every plot has an improvement.

I think Civ has a problem when saves get above 2MB.:(

You do not have enough Ram. See this chart I made for someone else earlier:

Code:
Total RAM Max Save Size
< 2GB 1MB
2GB 1.5MB
3GB 2MB
4GB 3MB
6GB 4MB

RAM has diminishing returns. You will need to upgrade your computer or downsize your map size.

Is this a Civ engine limit?

I'm having a problem with founding religions, i'm the first to discover the tech, and still, i get no holy city nor religion

I'm using full ROM 2.81, i pick up chose religion (in preference scenario) and limited religion in the BUG menu (cmd ctrl O) and I play snail speed

Thanks !

I've juste opened the scenario editor, it looks like some other civs have found the tech before me. But the weird thing is that I wasn't asked to chose the religion, no message alerted me that a religion has been found, and when I click on the religion icone, it says that no religion exists. It's the first religion avalaible, just after mysticism

I had a similar problem in the same version, a bit different. A distant civ discovered a tech with a religion but my capital was choosen as the Holy city.
Seems it's a bug. ;)

Been playing RoM for about a year. Updated my system to Windows 7 and now I can't seem to get it to open, like at all. Am I missing something in the forums? Any help would be appreciated.

I play RoM 2.8 on Windows 7 with no problems (although it does seem to run slower). I don't recall having to do anything special to get RoM to work.

Do you need to set it to 'Run as Administrator'? My game machine is at my office, so I can't check it now to see if I've got it set up that way....

Wow I got a nice one.

I was playing without any problems until I got an Great Engineer and since that one, I have had a Great Person in each turn!!

And I even have more than one per turn! I mean I have a Great Spy, a Great Engineer etc each turn!!!

I noticed some wrong numbers in my CityView where I got this first Great person that started all this...

I took a screenshot if you'd like, PM me.

I've been trying to play this with a friend of mine, but I keep on running into issues with XML. Single player works fine, but whenever I try playing a multiplayer, I get all these XML errors on the custom leaderheads. If I turn on modular loading, then it loads into the game fine, but then there are incorrect text labels, and whenever I settle my first city there's a bar of white circles with "138" in them that run across the screen. Anybody know what's going wrong?

RoM 2.81 is not multiplayer friendly. There is a discussion forum which has some hints on what you can do to make it playable in mulitplayer mode.
