Rise of Mankind 2.81 feedback and bug reports

Two things so far in industrial era that I found wanting (minor things for now):

The obsolete tech for Siege Workshop and Cannon Forge should be reversed because I was able to get to Automatic Weapons before Artillery. So it is better if you put Siege Workshop obsolete tech to Automatic Weapons and Cannon Forge to Artillery.

Like I said, a minor nitpicking.

Next thing: Biology should have some other tech prereq or take out Industrial era "starting" ability because I was able to get to Biology too fast.

More to come later...

In my current game, I've run into a few situations--

Cool stuff:

1. The wonders Carhenge and Theory of Everything

2. The random event where a new game "Civilization IV" has been developed

Gltiches:

1. Even though I have built a Commercial Airport, I cannot build a Vacation Resort. I have tried this in more than one city without success.

2. When I run my mouse over a Worker, the description says that the unit will be replaced by a Fast Worker. I believe this is only true for the Indian civilization. Should the description be edited?

Isn't Ireland a little bit to modern in the pack?

I might be wrong though.

I wish the MegaPack would have the Inuits. :P

I could be wrong but the Irish special unit in mega pack is a replacement for a melee unit (I think light swordsman, could be wrong) also the special building is a ring fort which is a replacement for castles. The great creator zappara has made it so Ireland inst a modern civ choice.

I'm not so disappointed for the lack of north/south American or Asian or Indonesian civs (even though i would love Canada to be in my game, hate to see America have all that land). I'm more disappointed at the lack of European and Mediterranean civs in regular pack.

Thanks generalstaff -- you are correct. None of the cities that had commercial airports were coastal cities.

Hi,

I have been reading up on the forum for a bit, but couldn't seem to find any info on game being stuck at the end of turn using 2.81 (i.e. it seems like there's an infinite loop somewhere). Is this considered a CTD or MAF?

Anyway, I always play Giant Earth Map ever since I tried RoM (2.5 or 2.6 maybe), and to date I have never had CTD, MAF, but I always get stuck on an end of turn 1400 AD (about the time people start getting optics). Basically means I have never hit the industrial age playing RoM, ever!

I have read about deleting every naval units in game, but if it comes to that, then perhaps it's simply not worth playing. So I wonder, how likely it is to finish a RoM game using GEM?

A problem that has stuck on my rise of mankind mod (2.8) is that i got a very strange camera angle so that I see much longer into the horizon compared to what is normal. It gives me fps issues when moving the view.

I have no idea why the camera moved to begin with or why its stuck there even though I exit to desktop and restart the game. I even extracted the rom 2.8 over the old one to see if that would remove the issue but it didnt.

The only keybind commands ive found are the normal ones in civilopedia and those does not remove it.

Dont know if its an issue to do with rom or with civ4 but ive only gotten it so far on rom 2.8.

this is an issue with the field of view slider that bug added. below the icons for your domestic advisor, etc, there is a slider visible when you're zoomed in. play with it until you find a setting you like, and then go into the bug options with ctrl-alt-o and turn the slider off so you don't hit it by accident again.

Yes, thank you. That removed the very annoying issue.

Playing 2.81, Full, Tiny Map, deity, I noticed following things:

1. it seems, that some buildings retain functions after becoming obsolete, although this is not documented in pedia

2. somtimes AI-Diplo urges you to declare war on another AI player, and then imm. makes peace with this former opponent - as a human player with emotions, I feel somewhat fooled by such behavior, but the AI does not understand that; perhaps such a diplo maneuver should automat. result in 10 more turns of war, as it is standard for other features

3. why are so many units immune to coll. dam. from animal units?

4. Airships can only be used for tactical bomb., although historically their success lay in strategic bomb. (and they are much to stable by the way, I think they should return damaged from every next run they make)

5. shifts in culture through combat can throw you out in mid battle, when the terrain your units stand in suddenly belongs to a third party

6. pillaging industry I always seem to get more money the lighter the industry is

7. AI holds forts for no observable tact, or strat. gain

8. is it possible, that sometimes a warlord chied (s) is born instead of a great general?

9. emerged civs very often attack the nearest civ's city, even when an barb. city nearby would be better suited for that purpose

Thank you again for this outstanding mod! It took me some time to notice, that there is not only a full and light version, but also a mega version. Is there a list of features for the different versions available?

Only defensive structures retain their bonuses.

IMHO, I like this feature. I do this to the AI sometimes, and it's nice to see the AI screw the human over in diplo occasionally.

8. is it possible, that sometimes a warlord chied (s) is born instead of a great general?

This is due to a game engine limitation. I fixed it for my RoM expansion, but the simplest solution is to download the updated Warlords modmod from Vincentz, which lowers the chance of this happening.

Full and Mega version just feature more civilizations, no extra content.

Playing 2.81, Mega. My workers can build mines in tiles outside of my cultural borders. Is this a bug? Same thing was true in 2.8, Full. I have a save file showing this behavior, if requested.

Thanks,

Petek

Using a fresh installed copy of RoM 2.8 and patched to 2.81 I cannot play multiplayer games of the Mod. Whenever I start a game it comes up with a lot of XML errors for the new leaders and then as soon as I create a town the games gets OOS.

Single player works fine though.

I have attached the logs.

I must say the scientists discovering fullerenes in a lab event was awesome, so I recommended them for a "Nobel Price"

;)

This is intended in RoM; it is not a bug.

Multiplayer mode is not working in RoM 2.8 versions. The problem is in the DLL (either RevDCM or BULL problem) that causes the OOS. Hopefully it will be fixed for RoM 2.9. I recommend using RoM 2.71 for multiplayer games meanwhile.

Heheh, that's one of the random events I made long time ago :) I still got huge list of possible events that I could add... testing each event is just time consuming process.

That was merely a long winded way of saying there was a typo! "price"
