Rise of Mankind 2.81 feedback and bug reports

Hi, figuring out what bit windows is is the easy part. Getting RoM to work is seemingly more diffucult. Can RoM mega only work on Windows 64 bit? Thanks zappara, I'll try the full version on Win7 tonight.
At least it seems that 64bit can run it better... in fact the mod's current versions are made and tested with 64bit Win7. Some Mega version users have said that they've got it working after they had deleted some custom civs from 'Modules\Custom Civilizations' folders so I think the amount of civs is causing the strain on the computer. So you could try reducing the civ amount too.

Did you add the event triggers to 'rise of mankind\assets\config\init.xml file? There's no limit how many eventmanagers the mod has - you'll just have to trigger them through BUG config files.

Yeah i had it all correct. I set it up that same way Dancing H did with his Warriors of God, infact it isnt that much difference just different python, it just will NOT work that way, but as soon as i put in the regular EventManager it works right away, also, i have noticed WITH the regular one i get ALOT more Events that pop-up:confused:

I fixed my old problem but i have another! Some of the new features (2 promotions, 2 technologies, eden project, 2 national wonders, 4 world wonders, 7 buildings, 13 units- most of them late game) do not work. On the civilopedia and city screen they show up as a pink square instead of the tiny picture. In game when enemies build one of the pink units it shows up as 3 pink spheres. Whenever i click on the pink square to try to build or research the messed up things, the game immediately stops working and kicks me off. Its like these features dont exist

This means that there is something wrong with the install. The graphics for these units, buildings and promotions are not where the XML is telling the engine they are. If you are good with XML you may be able to find and fix the problem but I would suggest a new install.

Well, obviously, for the "patch" to have even a chance of working, you need to have 4-8 Gb of RAM in the first place :)

Obviously. I do have 4 GB on Vista 64-bit. ;)

1) you ran as Admin correct?
2) you followed instructions in second link right?
2) That's why I said 6-8 preferable

1) Naturally.

2) I did not, if you're referring to the use of Explorer Suite. The NTCore patcher is meant to do the same thing automatically:

In order to achieve this, a flag has to be set in the file's internal format. This is, of course, very easy for insiders who do it every day with the CFF Explorer. This tool [the patcher] was written because not everybody is an insider, and most probably a lot of people don't even know that this can be achieved.

Use the new 4GB application patcher from NTcore, which skips the patching step in the later part of the article.

Edit: Well I got the Suite just in case, and the exe was already flagged with the >2gb address space.

3) There should be a positive effect regardless, no? When I load the save that crashes on end of turn - the RAM use of the process peaks at ~1,25GB. Now I admit I don't know squat about how processes generally use up memory, but even without the large address awareness, shouldn't I be seeing the exe take up roughly 2GB, ie. the max. available for 32-bit app?

It should also be mentioned that with the game taking the aforementioned 1.25GB, there's still plenty of free physical memory available - it never gets even near 100% use.

Great mod!
But how do I get rid of the log entries in the top middle of the screen? It not only displays things like the results of tribal villages but all kind of stuff like "status dump" "time score" etc.

I am having the MAF errros. I had those in some versions of ROM but not on 2.71 which I played for some time. I recently returned to Civ4 for my CivFix and got 2.81 Mega... I am playing the second largest map size with 18 or 20 civs. The same I played in 2.71 mind you. Never had MAF problems with 2.71, I even completed two games with it (hadn't done that for ages...). But with 2.81 it's MAFing all the way, once I get to year 600 AD or so (save size appr. 1.5 MB, I had double that size in 2.71 with no problems).

Is there a chance 2.81 normal can work without MAFs as 2.71 worked? I have intel quad core 4 gigs ram and a pretty fast system overall.

two things
1) Quad core is worthless with Civ as it can only use 1 core
2) Civ is a 32-bit program and can only use 2 Gigs

never mind about that. I don't expect full utilization of my system resources (although I think Civ4 as the rest of the 32bit lot can utilize 3 GB, whatever). I just expect to be able to play a game of ROM 2.81 to the end, as I did with ROM 2.71. Right now I have downloaded and installed the Full 2.81 (consistent MAFs occured with MEGA 2.81) and I already started a game, but it'll be a few days until I make it to the point where the MAFs come on.

Hi.
I just wanted to say that I love this mod and after a while I finaly started it.
I had problem with some xml errors with leaders when starting the game. But then I realized that some of options in custom game are causing it, and its lock modified assets. Maybe you all already know about this. Now game works fine without that option.

Never mind, ignore what I said for lock modified assets folder I made a mistake.

I have a problem and was hoping someone could help. I have been playing ROM with Vista and really had no problems until I upgraded to Windows 7 last week. Now I can't get ROM 2.81 or 2.71 to work. I get this error code:

Error in GameStartevent handler <bound method RevolutionInit.on Game Start of RevolutionInit.new instance at 0x0E9B3490>
BugInit - cannot find XML file mod int.

I tried uninstalling Civ4BTS and reinstalling all of it and still no luck any suggestions. I really love this Mod and would like to play.
