The turn numbers seem to be getting mixed up on the saves. I'm getting confused
Who is first with the turn?

From the first page, first post:

Rise of the Daimyo
This is the "Sengoku" that came with the game, no modifications

Game is Full and started

Host: Eclipse4449

Turn order
a HOJO Eclipse4449
b MORI Lanzelot
c UESUGI Cyc
d DATE Calis
e MIYOSHI Blaze_Injun
f ODA Xakzen
g IMOGAWA Semental
h TAKEDA Hawklord

Not sure where the problem lies, or if there is a problem. Lanzelot always has the correct info in the file name.

Lanzelot always has the correct info in the file name.

Well, I did not, when I was playing Takeda in the "previous edition" of this game... Until I found out that the turn number (and the date) changes right at the end of Takeda's turn, before the creation of the .sav file.

So when you are playing turn x, the .sav file at the end of your turn will have the date of turn x+1. We had a lengthy discussion about the turn numbering in the previous game... Also take into account that we started numbering at turn 1, while the game itself starts numbering at 0, and then the confusion is perfect.

(Semental will probably agree... he was player #1 in that game and on one occasion he said, even though he had just played and sent out "turn 27" he got "turn 26" back, when the next turn came around...)

Well, I hope that was helpful... :crazyeye:

For the last 4 or 5 turns I have been getting a save with the same number on it as the one I sent last time. It has a different date so I can tell the difference.

I have been sending the turn number +1 to the one I got. As I think this is right.

But it keeps coming back around with the same number I send.

So have I got it wrong and someone is correcting it?
or
is the turn number not getting incremented on the start of a round? :crazyeye:

If you can make sense of that your a better man than me Gunga Din. :D

So when you get a save from Semental, it would be named (let's say) ROD T010g, Jul1454.

You would play that save for that month/year, and when saving your turn the game would advance to the next month and year? (I believe that's how Lanzelot described it.) So the save you would send off to Eclipse would be ROD T010h, Jan 1455? That IS confusing. I suppose that's why we need to attach the letters after the turn number. Eclipse would get the save, play it, and send off as ROD T011a, Jan 1455, I'm guessing.

 Leave it to Sid...

It only goes up a time period at the end of the round,
so only the last player will get the new year.

When it's sent to the first player he should change the turn number (+1) and letter back to a.
the year will be what he sees on the save. everybody else should just change the turn letter (and your name if it's on) and send it on. Nobody else shouls change the year or number.

Cyc got it right. During your turn the game advances the date by half a year, but you shouldn't increment the turn number yet. You are the last player of turn x, and then Eclipse (as the #1 spot in the roster) will start a new round and increment to x+1.

GPS to Cyc.

gps to Calis. :)

Hi guys
Yes I am the 1st player in the game so I +1 the turn number and switch it from Jan to Jul and in crease the year ever other turn.

I leave the previous turn in my Rod\GPS sub folder as a place holder or name holder.
when I save in the game I click on the prevous turn and edit the turn number, month and year if need be.
I do not question the turn number because of my method but occasionilly I do look at what it says and as often as I do it (rarely) I change the turn number to reflect what it says in the game.

Also when I receive a turn I save it directly to my ROD\PBEM folder and if I do not get a overwrite alert all is fine to me regardless of what the turn is named, naming happens for me with the previous turn. I then go to the ROD\PBEM copy the "GPS to Player" and drop the previous received turn in a "played: folder and If I have no report I simply paste the "GPS I copied
and this over and over for my other games. every game has its own folder for receiving and a separate folder saving/sending.

So I don't know if the problem begins with me when I view the in game turn and change it or a second person is doing this as well
I just looked in my sent folder for ROD, I have 11 turns sent so next turn will be 12a but now I'm curious what the game says the turn is, I'll post that when I send the turn

@Lanzelot the ROJ turn I received from Blaze offered me a peace treaty which I had never seen before so I would ssume the turn I sent you is correct reguardless of what it is name
when I send the turn, the previous is moved to a "sent" folder and eventually deleted

I looked at the save and mine will show the correct month and year, but the Victory Screen shows an incorrect turn #. Don't know which one you're speaking of. I believe the Victory Screen showed turn 10 instead of 11.

I have one thing to say about the numbering...

Let's play!

Just keep it simple so we can find it in the file.
