Dont know if its been sugested somewhere else but here just a idea im throwing out here for the future eras. There are tons of sciecnce fiction material on this. Plus it would be a good extension of the revalotions mod.

Basicly the more points your civ has and the more tecnalogical your citys are and with certian civics in place the higher the risk of a machine take over.

Basicaly a random number of the most tecnilogical citys round the word are seized by AI, machines, cyborgs or whatever. The more connected you are with your neigbours the more chance of it spreading. All automated units become theres. Any weapons of high tecnology will be frozen for a certain number of turns. The machine AI will be automaticaly at war will all nations. All what remains of nations on the map will instantly be more peacefully with each other.

Basicaly it will be a huge upheveal that will reshape the world or worlds.

The machine uprising can happen to human or AI (give a new reason to go to war to prevent a uprising) and there will be warnings before it happens.

The machine nation would be ruthless. Unless it apdopts slavery the percentage of AI ethinicity in citys will Increase while human ethicitys decrease. (If possible when you recapture a city the the percentage of machines will be deleted from the overall population). If possible the AI population would require industry points for growth not food.

It could have its own small tec tree with diffrent routes. For example it could go down the cybentic route. In which case in battle defeated human units could be assimlitaed. Or just down the kill all human route!

For defence basicaly you could have programer unit that helps reduce the risk or prevent a AI take over. And the lower and least developed your score the less likely you are to lose your citys to the intial AI take over.

It would be a nice late game challenge :assimilate:

I believe this came up as part of MrAzure's old ideas for a Future Era overhaul, and back then I opposed it. I don't think such a thing is likely, for a variety of technical reasons, and would like our future eras to be as realistic as possible.

That said, there is a very good gameplay reason for not doing this as well. It is a very much negative event which forces you to spend a long while in very un-fun gameplay. And it would be completely random, meaning there would be no good way to avoid it. That is why we don't have large negative events like Meteor strikes and such, is that it isn't fun.

Well be no more un-realitistic as diesel or worse steampunk alt timelines  An

Dont see the the tecnichal problem as it would just be a extension of the revolutions mod.

As for massive random event that complety upheaves everything t yeah some players like that. Those that dont? Well why not make it so you can turn it off like all the other features? Problem solved everyone happy right?

The only REAL problem you pointed out is techinical feasability really.

I have plans for future cultures which include robotic ones. These will includes such human cultures as the ones from SMAC, non-human cultures (ex. Cetacean Sapien) and others. Note that extraterrestrial cultures (non-earth origin) will most likely not be added, due to huge implications of having alien races. However one late game barbarian alien race is planned. It will be far superior and aggressive than any Earth origin things. You will have to work hard to survive to the end of the game. Note they should appear around the time you are starting to colonize the galaxy. Any earlier would be much too hard.

Awesome! i have been thinking about the system in Rhyes and Fall, where at certain points in the game, new threats emerge. I think this might be a possible workaround to the problem concerning the AI at present; something like the barbarian cities converting ino new civs, but much much stronger, to make the game a bit challenging.

I actually think this is a pretty well thought and cool idea. If you can't get the main modders to make it you could convince something to make a modmod with it

In skimming review, the idea sounds neat to me but its so far off anything near my personal modding agenda that it'd be years away in development for me to work on.
