Risk Game - Sign Up / Interest?

Too late to join? If not coutn me in

I think a compromise can be made :)

OPTIONS
1) A player drops out and Perfection assumes command of the leaderless army (now or later on)
2) Players relinquish ownership of territory(s) which Perfection inherits.
----2a) Conditions:
---------i) Player ceding control of territory is compensated
------------------with Risk Cards (at a 1:1 ratio)
---------ii) Requires a 3/5 majority approval by all players
---------iii) Limit to 2 territories per player
---------iv) Perfection's acquired territories reset to 1 unit garrison
---------v) Player ceding territory, not compensated for lost units, only territory
---------vi) Perfection starts with less units to distribute (15 + 1/territory).
------------------This is to balance the fact that Perf has an advantage in seeing
------------------everyone's capital and garrisons post-deployment

I don't see why anyone would value a few of the territories anymore, considering how close the capitals seem to be. Territories near Siam or Indonesia for example...

I'll leave it up to the players to decide, Perf. If a better proposal can be made, make it :D

If nothing else, I am planning on a sequel to this game. Working on some homebrewed naval combat, economy and resources rules mechanic.

EDIT:
And until I get a response from at least 3 people (and their ceded territories), I won't be updating the game progress. You might also want to change your orders if we allow Perfection in.

What tactic? I was just reinforcing my troops in North America. Oh, and good luck out there.

Exactly, personally I would have dropped everything in Africa and secured that continent in a single turn.

Edit: INS WAU BRA and WDE are available from me, though granted two of those are really nasty :p

Hmm, if you provide some troops for me in Africa (I would like maybe three to five more), I'll be willing to give up all of my territories in North America. :)

If we can do that I'll be willing to accept those terms, 3 to 5 makes 4 with me.

Yes because Zack totally wouldn't benefit from weak neighbours in the north and east....

Just finished the map with all the arrows diagramming the invasions. Unless you're dying to see it, I'll post it with the official update, along with the map of the battle results.

I have all the orders sorted, just need to roll some dice (in the spreadsheet that is). Don't expect the results until tomorrow.

EDIT: And I've updated the OP. I've also been tinkering with the map itself within Inkscape. The territory connections use to be simple lines I drew in, but I've changed them using the built-in diagramming tool. I also changed the way that connections between opposite sides of the map (it's 2d after all) so it's more obvious what links to what.

To whom it may concern,

I'm embarrassed to say, I'm not going to be continuing this game. I greatly underestimated the organization that this was going to need, I was naive enough to think that just because I could arrange the numbers in a semi-logical format on a spreadsheet, I would be able to resolve attacking/invasions with a few random numbers. It's not that I couldn't do it, but the time involved made it a serious chore, one that I would dread repeating each round. It was meant to be fun, not just for the players, but for me as well. I hope I don't come off as flaky or selfish, but if it's going to be a chore, I'm not going to bother. That's reality, lol.

I apologize for wasting your time, but I assure you that this was a learning experience for me. I could have easily dismissed this thread and let it die, but that would be like dumping a girlfriend by not returning her calls.

In light of the organizational problems that I was not prepared for, I spent the last few days coming up with a set of house rules for a Risk-like game from the ground up. It is clear to me why same-time Risk is not a variant found in the board game version, and was only seen in a computer-assisted one.

Anyways, I didn't want to leave you good folks waiting for me, apologies again. I do plan on starting a game again, with my heavily modified rules, but I will be play-testing it before I introduce it here, so this won't happen again.

/thread.

As the rules stand, I had to keep track of the order the battles occur in, how many units are used in each battle (and how many units were left behind as defense) and than several of the battles involved keeping track of the results of previous battles to determine the outcome of that battle.

There was no way I could keep track of it all by using just a spreadsheet. I needed a way to graphically visualize where the troops are going, how many troops stayed behind, etc. And neither an image editor or a spreadsheet made my job simple enough for it not be a huge hassle.

If anyone is interested, I can provide the spreadsheet file, and .svg image file that I used to make the map (it contains a different layer for each map element).
