Road to War Always Crashes!

Every time I play any road to war mod it crashes after a few turns. I could think of a few possible reasons why this happens but I have no idea how to fix it.
1. I bought the complete version(I heard there's probs with it)
2. I don't have a gaming computer. Good RAM, good Hard drive, bad graphics card(one that came with comp) and Vista Home Basic.
3. It's a mod

Every time it crashes the error message says this:

Is this the mod that comes with the game, or the Road to War mod you download from this site?

It's the one that comes with the game. I thought about downloading another but I wanted to check first.

I'd patch to 3.19 first to see if that solves it

Okay. On the game I've gone to "advanced" and hit check for updates. It gave me the oprion to download 3.19 and I did. I waited for it to be installed and that was it. After it was done nothing happened. When I hit "about this build" it still says 3.17 so I have no way of knowing if it worked.

You will need to download and install the patch outside of the game. You can get it from the Downloads here on CivFanatics.

Install the patch by right-clicking on it and choosing run as administrator rather than just double clicking on the file.

Umm. I downloaded the patch and now it wants me to install. I thought I'd just be dropping one file into another. Should I install? I don't know how patches work.

yes you need to install it - and do as Furiey says: run it as admin
