Roleplaying Challenge: Dubya

I think you're allowed to drop the total anhilation rule. I'm amazed how well you're doing already, anything more is definitie sucide.

Oh ye of little faith...

Well, to be honest I think that is a clear breaking of the rules. But I also think it is very good role-playing. After all torture is against the rules as well in America ;)

Round 6: to 1776

"This Tacitus says we're pathetic," Dubya said angrily. "Doesn't he appreciate a good old fashioned asswhoopin'?"

"Not to worry, sir. He considers the Spanish hopeless," Ashcroft replied.

"Damn right," interjected Big Dick. "Why do you think all the illegals try to come here?"

"One nice thing about the war bein' over ... I get to work on the ol' backswing," the President said, grinning and grabbing his bag. "Ash, send out some of the flower boys to find this Tacitus and tan his sorry hide."

"That's five sides of beef you've been through this weekend, Winnie."

"It was three, actually," Churchill said modestly.

"No look, there's the carcasses. One, two ... five."

Churchill put his head in his hands. "I am bringing my accountant over next time, George, to teach your people ... basic addition."

"I'll take my boots off so we can county to twenty."

He sighed heavily then reached for the sangria. "Is there a reason you continue to worship this Spanish god?"

"Not really. In America, Winnie, we kinda prefer to use religion as a way to control the population."

"Do yourself a favor then, man, and adopt Hinduism. Trust me, the Arabs will do business with you once you embrace their beliefs."

"Sure thing, buddy," Dubya said, slapping the Prime Minister on the back. "You tell ol' camel head that I'm ready to embrace his moustached sister if that'll get a lasting peace."

"More foreign emissaries arrive, Mr. President."

"Send 'em around back. I'm smokin' a brisket. We'll show those backwards foreigners how we welcome folks to America."

Spoiler :
I'm about two tech-generations behind the Dutch and Ottomans. Good thing I have some resources to trade ...

"We consider it an evolution," Greenspan opined.

"What, no more free market slavery? What about supply and demand?"

"Mr. President, it is becoming clear that some of our citizens need ... extra guidance."

"The dumbasses can't figure it out on their own, so we're going to teach 'em. Classify 'em. Make sure that there's no margin for error. Once they're born, they're but onto a lifetime career track," Big Dick said, nodding knowingly.

"You know, removal of freedom of choice is the only way to keep America free and competitive," Dubya said, convinced.

"We're calling it No Child Left Unclassified."

Spoiler :
After I got currency, I desperately tried to get more techs ... I did this deal with Winnie. Nothing says success like getting sailing in 1620 A.D. ...

Towards the end of the round I did some other resource trades with some of my newfound foreign friends, which was somewhat helpful.

I also took advantage of two random events to brown-nose my Hindu buddies even further, in hopes of their technological generosity:

"Let me get this straight, Winnie. If you attack Izzie, I attack Sal."

"No."

"If Izzie attacks you, I attack you."

"No," Churchill said wearily, checking his pocketwatch.

Dubya slapped himself. "I got it!"

"I knew this day would come, Izzy. Come over here and have a seat," he said, thumping the cushion and waving her over.

Puzzled, the Queen of Spain sat next to him.

"I know this is hard for you to admit, after all we've been through. But just say it: you want my banana."

Civ4ScreenShot0387.jpg

"Suley, your turban is lookin' good," Dubya slurred. "But there is one thing that's been buggin' me."

"Yes?"

"So who is this Otto guy, anyway? Are YOU the Otto-man?"

"Ah, Churchill warned me of your sense of humor. Here, take these maps. It will lead you my land, where I can show you the Ottoman."

"I knew it! He DOES exist!"

Civ4ScreenShot0393.jpg

"You know, it's time, Dick."

"Damn right."

"I just ain't American if we're not invadin' somebody or another every so often."

"Initiate Operation North of the Border?" Big Dick asked eagerly.

"Yep."

its soo funny, I may not be up with American politics...but its funny none the less.

And what's the definition of being in trouble tech wise, whent the AI starts to gift you tech's of its own valition..........

Last game I tried at Emporer, i had Shaka gifting me Metal Casting.

A great and entertaining read so far! I turned off all the advising and tips when I first got civ4, so I am really surprised at how poor they are. Its amazing that you are on a coast but you have yet to build a coastal city, but that would be because the game hasn't suggested any for you yet. The city build choices are really terrible too, although the worker improvements and tech choices seem ok.

One nitpick though: I don't think Greenspan really counts as a Bush crony. He was not appointed by Bush, and served mostly during the Clinton administration. Also, the Fed is somewhat independent from the government, and not directly responsible to the president.

wow the AI has never gifted me techs before ;p

sloberrinbear,

Any chance you have permanent alliance turned on? If you keep that defensive pact with Winnie long enough you can sign a permanent alliance with him, and that should take care of your tech deficiency.

Could we get a shot of the tech screen to see just how far behind you are?

I doubt his monitor can hold a screen shot big enough to hold all the techs

Thankfully Izzy seems to be stuck in the Renaissance as well, since the rest of the known world already is far into the Industrial Age.

Willem already has Flight. Saladin is less far ahead but is up to Combustion already. Winston and Suleiman seem to be somewhere in the starting Industrial age, and Izzy is a bit ahead but stuck in the renaissance as well. Thankfully, without Rifling. :p

There's still one unknown civ, though.

Dubya should stop trading with those Dutch commies, by the way. :D

Must be difficult having to spend additional time thinking up commentary, while keeping it fresh.

Brilliant so far. I particularly like how vast the arabian empire is compared to yours on the minimap. Willem having flight is hilarious too. I predict a space victory for the dutch pinkos.

1405 and the comp suggests a scout, lol lol lol roflmao. Serious!!! Bwahahaha, I suggest some quick world map trading to get rid of those suggestions. This is so hilarious Slobberinbear. Brilliant. I also don't know precisely how fond the AI's are of you but Roosevelt and Suleiman should be susceptible to handing over some backward techs. Maybe you can get a little bit out of this deep hole you are stuck into right now (a little deeper and you are on the other side of the earth :P)

Good stuff here, this really helped me pass the time between choosing how best to not do anything constructive with my life(happy face).

Post the next round please. Don't say you lost your muse with this one too. Not just before the most epic turn!
