Try and find out...
 Can anyone create these

1: Equites - Roman Ancient Cavalry

2: Auxiliary Infantry - 2/3 Foot unit that doubles ase workers.

Could it be possible for them to look like the units in Praetorians?

Also any of the following buildings would be cool... :goodjob:
Garrison
Defensive Tower

" Better to have failed honorably, than to have succeeded by fraud "

Here is an Auxiliary Legionnaire from times of Octavianus Augustus.

And at least Praetorian signifer (standart bearer) with lion's skin on his head. Only Praetorian signifers were allowed to wear it. In other formations, signifer does not had even helmet , and fought with bare head!

actually, the standerd horseman covers the look of Roma cav extremlly well, so much so, that it would be better to replace every one elses also, I suggest making auxiliaries a spearman unit-both made with a spear, and used to replace the spearman

*sigh* I'm beginning to think a Sticky should be started for "Common AI Modding Misconceptions" (of which I've had my fair share! :crazyeye: )

Memnojokasel, this has come up repeatedly regarding such as Roman Legionairies being able to build fortifications.

For the AI to use a unit in ANY way as a Worker, it has to have all worker jobs selected -- THEN the problem becomes that the AI, when building the unit, will assign each inidividual unit of that type one and only one role for the life of that unit -- e.g., either Worker or, say, Offensive.

Most the time people don't care what the AI does. They want the nifty special unit to give them (the player) more ways to do things themselves.

So if they want their Auxilliaries to do some worker actions, well, that's cool. If the AI won't do that, well, it's the ******** AI's fault and they severe limitations on the modding in Civ3.

But why give yourself an advantage over the AI? That just seems like cheeting.

I'll just go back to playing Praetorians.

The unit you linked to is the Imperial Legionaries, and not the Auxiliaries I'm looking for. The Auxiliaries I'm looking for only have a sword and light armoring. I don't know 3D Modeling so I'll just let that die.

@ozy: I would think most people play the Romans in a scenario like that anyway, so the AI effect wouldn't be too detrimental. Just my opinion.

Thanks for all the replies anyway.

Fair point.

BTW have you considered using one of Kryten's excellent hoplites for your auxiliairies --

They don't throw their javelins but should be more than close enough for "jazz and government work".

Also have a look at Kinboat's equally fine Germanic Spearman:

Wrong units, eh??:) So maybe THIS is what you are looking for:)
So - left to right: Auxiliarius from Ist cantury BC, reconstructed accordindg to funeral tombs reliefs - with more simplified modification of legionary helmet, and leather tunic, maybe with light armor under it Next two figures - auxiliares about Ist century AD, Roman and Iberian from "cohors Hispanorum scutata".Last figure - soldier from "cohors gaesatorum Raetorum", about 250 AD,wear scale mail, armed with heavy spear"gaestum" and long cavalry type "spatha" sword, unlike of typical Roman"gladius".

I'll take the one on the far left, maybe I was wrong in them not having shields. Reason I said so, was because in Praetorians, they only have a sword, helmet and speed. Damn can they move fast. Of course, they do have Wolf Scouts wearing lion's heads, go figure.

Really, I was thinking just take the Plum and Shield off the Civ3 Legionary and that would be close enough for me.

My idea was to have Legions(Civ3 one) during the Bronze age for the Romans, then have them upgrade to the Auxiliaries in the Iron Age, when Imperial Legionaries become available.

Anyway I like all the artwork, and am saving it for my own stash!

Well, if you are looking for a Bronze Age -> Iron Age upgrade then you should better take Hoplites for Bronze Age and upgrade to Legion in Iron Age. That way it is closer to history. (And you don't need new units.) :D

Belive me or not. But this is what I am doing in my own Rome mod.

So enjoy your favorite figure in larger scale:) And look what I found - it's no auxiliarius, but velitus. Roman legion (before Marius has reformed it) was divided of three parts: velites - most young and poor men, armed with javelins, sword and shield.Polibius wrote, so many of them wore bear or wolf skin above their helmets.

Another two parts of legion were hastati and tiaries. Hastati - strong, fertile young men, who have their own families, tiaries were oldest, but most experienced soldiers, veterans. Only Roman citizens can belong to legions, all from 17 to 45 years old. In cause of extraordinary danger up to 50 years or more.Tiarius is on left, hastatus on right.

Maybe that's why in Civ3 they call the unit a "Legionary" now instead of a "Legion" ????

Maybe a "Legion" would be the equivalent of a Civ3 "Army" unit with a Legionary, and an Auxiliary, and a Cavalry unit inside, or something like that (does anybody mix foot and mounted units in their armies? I don't...).
