RPC, The Next Generation: Revenge of the Huns, REBOOT.

Ah well, my bad. I forgot to add no techt rading as a setting and was going by my written rules. Chalk it up to my barbarian side regarding rule breaking!

The Jewish Diaspora

Now that Atilla had a source of power for the Hunnish military he was now concerned about the Hunnish economy, paying for the military does cost money. SO he offers another trade with the civilized nations

HunB20000.jpg

Sailing and MAsonry. The Huns move to researching MAth while the military begins preparations.

The target is solidified as the Jewish Asoka makes a civilized demand on the peqace-loving barbarian Huns.

HunB20001.jpg

AS the Hun army is built up the Native American Asoka (he has dog soldiers and totem poles!) jumps into a war against DeGaulle

HunB20002.jpg

Atilla has no love for DeGaulle but sees an opportun ity to attack the slightly stretched Asoka.

First he adopts slavery to whip out a few last soldiers

HunB20003.jpg

And discusses uncivilized matters with Asoka.

HunB20004.jpg

All are invited into the Hun army regardless of skill level.

HunB20005.jpg

And poverty point is quickly overwhelmed.

HunB20006.jpg

Jewish rabbis come streaming out of the city at the feet of Atilla beginning mercy and pledging loyalty. Atilla looks past their false demonstrations and sees the glint of greed in their eyes, looking to bring wealth into their city by buying the souls of the Hun people. While Atilla's view on a higher divine is not quite known, his view of the manipulations of the Organized religions is quite clear, the JKewish Holy city is burned to the ground.

HunB20007.jpg

However the Huns need horses which is ensnared by settling a new city imediately.

HunB20008.jpg

Hun City #4, much more appropriate than the Holy City of Povert Point. But Atilla is not finished for the NAtive American dogs have built a Great Wall on the Hun border that cannot be tolerated.

Unfortunately, fellow Jewish leaders were quite upset at seeing the Jewish homeland destroyed.

HunB20009.jpg

HunB20010.jpg

HunB20011.jpg

All pathetic dogs that can be ignored for the moment. Atilla has other things to take care of

HunB20012.jpg

HunB20013.jpg

The NAtive America people screamed and ran to the defenses of their captial city.

But to no avail

HunB20014.jpg

HunB20015.jpg

The foundations of the Great Wall were destroyed as the NAtive American capital was completely razed. No new city was built, Atilla needs to conserve his resource until he can built sufficient cottages and harvest his dye resources. And there is the jungles to clear.

However a great General is born

HunB20016.jpg

Atilla considers the warlord's uses. A leader into battle is definitely needed, yet Atilla sees a more urgent need for an instructor in the Hun Capital. As he considers his next move as the Hu slowly research MAth, he offers Asoka peace

HunB20017.jpg

The Hun lands show

HunB20018.jpg

A lot of good land that has not been exploited fully yet. Time to build up these 4 cities, Asoka is week and broken and Boudica the only concern to the north.

The cities

HunB20019.jpg

Research is abysmal

So we saved here.

Looks like a tough game already but Atilla is already satisfied having destroyed the Jewish Holy City and the Great Wall!

Wow! Did all jewish leaders Dowed on Atilla only because of the destruction of Holy city? Never seen that before. How many negative points did you get from other jew leaders for the Holy city that Dowed on you?

Who cares! We are Huns!
Of course the Huns should never care about such things! But some observers would like to know if there's some special "you razed our holy city" negative modifier that would show up in the diplomatic advisor.

Unless there's some reasons the huns would never ever consult such a person. :)

Who cares! We are Huns!

You should use this response for everything, even things in real life.

"Hey, you haven't mowed your lawn in six months..."
"Who cares! We are Huns!"

"Anything good on TV tonight?"
"Who cares! We are Huns!"

"Sir, do you know how fast you were driving back there?"
"Who cares! We are Huns!"

Definitely time for a big yummy plate of Cottage Spam, though. Without any Science that's really your only option to even keep pace, especially with tech fiends like Zara and Mansa on the board. Surprised to see Joao isn't more of a force--his ridiculous REXing usually puts him in a great position at this point in the game. Probably hemmed in.

OK folks, I have an idea. I did foul up the no tech trading aspect in this RPC and damned the hell I am NOT restarting it again.

I downloaded the always war mod that Neal is using. I saved the last Atilla save as a WB file so it's feasible to continue the RPC as an always war game. Are we interested in doing this? Perhaps the anger of the Jewish god at the destruction of his Holy City?

What do you all think?

Why don't you just declare war on everybody normally without having to mess around with mods?

It's what built the self help industry. Empower yourself!

And continuing to trade, tsk tsk, at least refrain voluntary.

Self tech:

Basic worker techs, monarchy, CoL, alpha, math, currency, metal casting, feudalism. Early alpha for build research sounds good although a head start on merchants (CoL) and allowing a high slider is doable also...

Run caste, farm 3 merchants. You'll probably want 4-5 cities for this.

Bulb:

1. Civil Service
2. Machinery
3. Guilds

Use military to "defend" vs barbs and farm up heroic epic. Stay small to get this quickly and I'm betting you can get cataphracts in the early ADs despite the rules, especially on marathon.

You probably won't need anything else.

I know you're bogged down with the HoF series right now, but you should demonstrate the Cataphract bulb in a video soon :) (I know you've done a Justinian series already but it's worth a revisit!)

Death of the Native Indians

Atilla considered his options once the Jewish Holy City was destroyed. Peace was secured but a dream came to the Hun leader. The Jewish god came to him and offered him a deal to save his people from his wrath, bow down and worship him and he would send the world up in flames, turning ALL civilizations against each other.

Atilla listened to this offer in his dream, spat on the ground, and swore death to all fool civilizations. Or he would die trying 9which he probably will.

The Hun people cheered at their leader's courgeous, if foolish rejection of the Jewish God's offer.

YES FOLKS WE ARE PLAYING THIS OUT AS IT IS!!!!

In fact Atilla has forbidden even tech trading with Civilization. Interestingly the Jewish god intervened, first sending Boudica against the Buddhist Willem (apparently she hated a heathen neighbor more then the Huns)

HunsC0001.jpg

then by sending Ragnar against them.

HunsC0002.jpg

Atilla laughed as noone dared send any troops his way, and Zara quickly offered peace

HunsC0003.jpg

Meanwhile, the weak NAtive Indians were not forgotten. Nor was Atilla daunted by the multiple wars with no real armies.

HunsC0004.jpg

HunsC0005.jpg

Where Asoka's army went Atilla does not know, however it was a pushover to take his 2 last cities.

HunsC0007.jpg

HunsC0008.jpg

Mound city was relatively uncivilized and spared the torch. A lighthouse on the coast allows some commerce as the Huns plod along with researching MAth.

The Hun display of willing to fight multpiple enemies got through to one advresaries thick head.

HunsC0009.jpg

Jaoa was willing to die later.

Onto Asoka's last city

HunsC0010.jpg

HunsC0011.jpg

HunsC0012.jpg

THis city was burned to the ground. While uncivilized, it would definitely be a major drain on the Hun economy especially with the pitiful number of workers Atilla has. Seams all huns want to fight, and thse fighters have NOT found many refuges willing to work in the captured cities.

Atilla saved here, contemplating who to attack next as his options are a bit limited by the Hun non-open border ploicy. To the north

HunsC0013.jpg

Boudica and Willem on the Northern border and both fighting each other.

To the west is Darius

HunsC0014.jpg

And the city status showing Hun preference for Military while sacrificing science.

The Huns are not deterred by Technological superiority, economic power, of divine influence from the Civilized nations. Nor do they care hey are fight 3 other wars.

Who do the Huns strike next!!!!!!!

OK, next round has been played but photobucket is acting stupid again so I cannot post until later.

Moving on to other matters

The Huns exterminated the Jewish Indians, spreading theie faith to the corners of the world. Atilla organizes his Huns and prepares for the next war.

HunsD0000.jpg

Willem is hated by most being the heathen Buddist and also has Boudica to deal with. Perfect time to boost the Hun treasury with plunder.

HunsD0001.jpg

Willem is completely caught off guard as the Huns advance on the nearest city.

Rumors of the rampaging huns spread to Ragnar who quickly decided peace was in his best interests.

HunsD0002.jpg

The first Mayan city of Willem the Huns found

HunsD0003.jpg

HunsD0004.jpg

Was completely burned to the ground.

The HUns looked for another Mayan city to trash and found out why Churchill refused peace

HunsD0005.jpg

The Incan Bulldog's troops were easily trapped and decimated resulting in a peace deal with CHurchill

HunsD0006.jpg

Good news for CHurchill's Incans, bad news for Willem's Mayans.

However, time was needed to heal troops

HunsD0007.jpg

While much of the world erupted into constant warfare.

The Huns moved onto the nearest Mayan city once again.

HunsD0008.jpg

HunsD0009.jpg

And again razed the city!!!!!

Another warlord was born

HunsD0010.jpg

Which Atilla took over for and led a chariot unit as a medic III unit!

Meanwhile, here you can see how Willems empire is broken in half

HunsD0011.jpg

While he continues a major war against Boudica to the east.

The Huns moved onto Willem's Holy Buddhist capital.

HunsD0012.jpg

However, Atilla called a halt as the city was too well defended at the moment. However the location in imbedded in Atilla's mind for later as the Huns plod along on researching mathematics.

In fact Atilla became bored with the Mayans and looked for peace.

HunsD0015.jpg

At least peace with the Mayans, because to the west of the Hunnish empire

HunsD0018.jpg

HunsD0019.jpg

Time to move against Darius' Celts.

Darius provided even less competition than the MAyans.

HunsD0020.jpg

Almost immediately the Celtic King fell on his knees and begged for mercy

HunsD0021.jpg

And Atilla pondered if it's worth a moment of peace to research more in HunLand, or continue the slaughter and let plunder drive the Hun economy.

Note Atilla has a nasty army moving south just now.

HunsD0022.jpg

Also there is the question of WHAT to research next!!!???

Currency?

Code of LAws??

Construction???

Calender????

Horseback Riding?????

You're running what looks like a -20 :gold: deficit at 30% research; you might be running close to a deficit at 0% at this point, and the hordes are still marching on Darius. You need infrastructure. One of the wacky civilized math nerds can probably puzzle out which of Currency or CoL would be more profitable at this point, but with no foreign trade, I'd say CoL. Get one or the other, then head to Construction and start pumping out siege so the reaping can continue.

No foreign trade? IIRC foreign trade routes are boosted by OB but no OB doesn't block them
Definitely CoL though

Way too cities to need courthouses any time soon.

Currency wins IMO. Despite no foreign trade you can pummel and extort money from the AI with it, sell tech for gold, and sell resources for gold. All of these things can drastically boost the science or espionage slider.
