Ah well, my bad. I forgot to add no techt rading as a setting and was going by my written rules. Chalk it up to my barbarian side regarding rule breaking!
. Now you can backtrade for almost anything you need off the bulb path.
How many negative points did you get from other jew leaders for the Holy city that Dowed on you?

Wow! Did all jewish leaders Dowed on Atilla only because of the destruction of Holy city?
Of course the Huns should never care about such things! But some observers would like to know if there's some special "you razed our holy city" negative modifier that would show up in the diplomatic advisor.Who cares! We are Huns!

Who cares! We are Huns!
OK folks, I have an idea. I did foul up the no tech trading aspect in this RPC and damned the hell I am NOT restarting it again.
I downloaded the always war mod that Neal is using. I saved the last Atilla save as a WB file so it's feasible to continue the RPC as an always war game. Are we interested in doing this? Perhaps the anger of the Jewish god at the destruction of his Holy City?
What do you all think?
You should use this response for everything, even things in real life.
"Hey, you haven't mowed your lawn in six months..."
"Who cares! We are Huns!"
"Anything good on TV tonight?"
"Who cares! We are Huns!"
"Sir, do you know how fast you were driving back there?"
"Who cares! We are Huns!"
Definitely time for a big yummy plate of Cottage Spam, though. Without any Science that's really your only option to even keep pace, especially with tech fiends like Zara and Mansa on the board. Surprised to see Joao isn't more of a force--his ridiculous REXing usually puts him in a great position at this point in the game. Probably hemmed in.
Self tech:
Basic worker techs, monarchy, CoL, alpha, math, currency, metal casting, feudalism. Early alpha for build research sounds good although a head start on merchants (CoL) and allowing a high slider is doable also...
Run caste, farm 3 merchants. You'll probably want 4-5 cities for this.
Bulb:
1. Civil Service
2. Machinery
3. Guilds
Use military to "defend" vs barbs and farm up heroic epic. Stay small to get this quickly and I'm betting you can get cataphracts in the early ADs despite the rules, especially on marathon.
You probably won't need anything else.
(I know you've done a Justinian series already but it's worth a revisit!)
Who do the Huns strike next!!!!!!!
deficit at 30% research; you might be running close to a deficit at 0% at this point, and the hordes are still marching on Darius. You need infrastructure. One of the wacky civilized math nerds can probably puzzle out which of Currency or CoL would be more profitable at this point, but with no foreign trade, I'd say CoL. Get one or the other, then head to Construction and start pumping out siege so the reaping can continue. You're running what looks like a -20deficit at 30% research; you might be running close to a deficit at 0% at this point, and the hordes are still marching on Darius.
