I agree with Ruff, moreover, Toku's land looks nice...
There is a little island worth settling imo (at least one the AI would definately settle) north west of Paris...

Ok got it. Plan is to mass upgrade our city raiders to riflemen and declare war against Japan. I'm also going to revolt to Merchantilism to support our specialist economy. Great scientist will most likely to be settled in our Bureaurcracy capital.

Turn 1

Ok, we need some money for the upgrades so I dial down research to 0% (Actually kept it there for the whole turnset!) and do these trades:

(+1 modifier to Roosevelt for giving into our demands)

We also merge our great scientist to Paris and make anarchy free swap to Merchantilism.

Turn 3

This is the end of our golden age so we declare war against Japan in our agony.

Turn 5

Here is the situation in Satsuma. Not looking bad at all when they are opposed by city raider riflemen

And do they rok! we take the city without any losses!

Boudica gives a little aid. She seems to be always glad to help, I think she's having a crush on me... . Apologizies in advance if the picture offends any possible female lurkers. Oh wait, I don't think those kind of creatures exist

Turn 7

Hmm, let me think... I'll go with troops this time, Sid

Turn 8

Military Tradition comes in and I continue towards Scientific Method. I got the idea from this guy who seemed to know a lot from the stuff.

Turn 9

Zara makes his usual demands and walks away empty handed... again... (-1 for outrageous demand)

And then we get this event.

Needless to say, I decided to continue with the war. Anyone guess why?

Well, we lost one riflemen with 88% odds but otherwise we are victorious as expected. Unfortunately our remaining knight attackers get so bad rolls against war elephants so I decide to wait until next round.

Turn 10

I almost got a heart attack when we were informed that Leonidas has died in combat! Then I realize it wasn't our great general so either Roosevelt or Boudica had a really bad turn there

And just as Satsuma got out of anarchy, it revolts again for fricking 7 turns. Just great...

Toku brought reinforcements to Tokyo so this is what we're up against now.

And an expected result.

Turn 11

I played one extra turn to even the counter. We have seen a lot of spy sabotages during my turnset, so that's something we need to take a look in the near future. I think it's Roosevelt messing with our lands. At the end I noticed that one of the mines blown up could use some repairing.

Well this set I was determined to

1. Not give Ruff a heartache with ridiculous ramblings about bee-lining deep lying techs in complete ignorance of the SG rules.

2. Try also to play in “character” so yes. That means all the :Smoke: was a deliberate choice!! This was at least partly because we are in such a strong position we can afford more of the handicaps playing like the AI gives us.

We start off with an invitation to War. Now we hate America, Love Boudi who is already at war with America so I felt that this was one the AI would definitely go for.

In the meantime the war with Toku progresses smoothly.

At this point I felt the AI would accept a vassalisation as we have all his mainland cities and yes, we know the AI loves to pick up dodgy cities at times so we have a real stinker.

Admittedly with the Great lighthouse it was never going to be that bad but I just felt we should own one of these!!!

Meanwhile as the AI loves to pursue certain techs and I “feel” like it does really like the ones with free GP’s attached we bulb Physics to pick up the GS who is then settled and start on Communism.

We scouted out Los Angeles and Washington’s forces are nothing scary as our Riflemen will handle Cuirassiers nicely.

Now naughty old Washington’s spies have been doing some pillaging that needs fixing.

But we should be able to pay him back soon.

So feel free to criticise the ..... as long as it is based around the AI would never do that logic!!

Yeah, god damn Ralph for this !

One idea, maybe we should automate all our workers? I mean, we could manually set our workers to build mines on top of windmills and windmills on top of mines, but why bother when the AI can handle that fine?

OK I played fast as I won't be around until late sunday so next player could play the week end

Basically I teched communism -> chemestry -> Steel -> up to team decision...
I also traded for constitution against SM with Hammurabi (Zara has it already), jails could come in handy

More details:

In the first turn I changed EPs allocation to our neighbours (and targets), no points on our vassals. Made deals with Toku, OB and resources we lacked...
Later, I would gift him (well trade against 60 gold) military techs (nationalism, gunpowder), techs that every AIs had and I felt it was within the spirit (I was reluctant to gift all the techs though).

We gained a general in battle, who created a D4 C1 leadership unit, nice to create further GG (XP generator)...
Shortly after that we took LA:

Meanwhile we had switch to FS, SP leaving bureaucraty and mercantilism... (that alone saves us 116 gpt...) and got the GSpy for being first to communism (Georges Marchais would be proud ...), i saved him for team discussion...

Some time later, Izzy got her '-1' diplo of the round:

Nevertheless, we captured Atlanta...

Boudica had stop her war effort for quite some time now...

I played two more turns to steel (already 4 cannons from upgrades).
I selected artillery but no beakers are invested...

Good point, without mininc corp, or slavery , or US, this city is useless (no way of building anything).
