A. I went into the rules editor and was looking around at the unit edit panels, when I noticed that the "upgrade to" setting was set in some really wierd ways. Like archers upgrading to berserkers, and knights upgrading to keshiks, and so on. I hadn't messed with the settings--that's just how they were from the beginning.

Is this how it's supposed to be?

Also, I was thinking about adding a new small wonder called a "Colonial Capitol," which is basically like a second forbidden palace.

A. How much do you think this would unbalance the game?
B. Would the AI know how to use it if I put it in?
C. Is there any way to tie this small wonder's buildability to *government* type?
D. Do I have to associate a new rule-set with a specific map, or can I make it where it just plays a random map like normal?
E. Did D make sense?

dont worry the upgrade paths are correct:)

A. It would not unbalance the game
B. They would use it the same way they use the FP
C. Yes, look under the "requires" square in the city improvements tab in the editor.
D. The best way is to make it a scenario, you do not need to make a map, just edit the rules. When you play it, just load the scenario.
E. Sure it did:)

Thanks, Yoda.

As to the upgrade paths, how does it work? If I leave them alone, then they are correct even if they don't read correctly? If I change them, then will they be changed correctly? What if I "change" them to the correct unit? Will the upgrade path remain correct or do something weird?

As to the government type question, I see now that I can limit it to a single government type. I am now trying to decide whether it is best to limit it to monarchy or rather to make it available to all. Or perhaps I should make a new government type with many negatives but with the ability to build this new small wonder, and call it "World Imperialism" or something like that...

Hmm... modding is fun. :)

Example: The knight upgrades to Keshik, the keshik upgrades to cavalry(it doesn´t, but lets intend it do). All civs(exept the mongols) cant build the keshik, so instead of upgrading to that it upgrades to cavalry. Makes sense when you think about it.
