Greetings all,

It's been awhile since I've been on the forum and playing Civ IV. I hope you've all been well. It appears that you've made decent progress over the last 15 months. Thank you for your awesome creativity and consistent commitment to making AND2 the best Civ game ever created.

In the past, I had been using an old 2.2 Ghz HP computer from 2005 with a 256 MB graphics card, so my gameplay was never worth it past the Modern age. I finally upgraded to a CyberPowerPC with the following specs (which are light years ahead of the old HP):

Specifications
Processor Type: AMD Quad-Core FX-4300 Processor
Processor Speed: 3.80 GHz
Operating System: Windows 10 Home (64-bit)
RAM Memory: 8 GB
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon R5 230 (1GB)

I'm eager to try out AND2 on the new system, but recall reading in years past that there were certain things you had to do to best run AND2 on Windows 7 (64-bit). I was hoping you guys could guide me as to any special OS settings or setup I should use to best run AND2 on Windows 10 (64-bit). Would it be the same as Windows 7? If so, what are those settings?

Also, based on your experience, could a comp with these specs pretty much handle an Extra Large map with 20 civs through the Post-Modern age? What do you think the limits in map size/civs are for these specs?

Thanks, and again, great work.

I didn't need to do any additional set-up on my WIn7 or Win10 with AND personally. Hopefully you wont either xD

As for larger-than-huge mapsizes.... The game engine was never meant to handle things like that, so playing on maps like that will always be risky - even if you have a good computer, you're limited most by the game itself. As such, I'd personally just stick to Huge and smaller.

Thanks, Rezca. As far as Huge maps are concerned, how many civs do you think these specs could handle into the post-modern age with no more than 30 seconds between turns?

So I've installed Civ4 and now I can't find the second BTS CD. Ahh! I hooked up my old HD to the new computer and transferred my BTS folder over. When I open BTS from my new HD it fails to initialize Python.

Any ideas as to what may be the Issue? All files should be there. If I can't get it to work, how else can I get BTS?

Thanks for your help,
Snoop

If you have manually installed the 3.19 Official patch then the Play CD for BtS is no longer necessary to be in your CD/DVD player to play the game. That was the best thing Firaxis did in the final patch.
