Amazingly I actually killed 4 bandits while drunk (in game) (although slightly less so that this).

Heh, i love how vodka helps you recover from radiation in the game. Great touch!
Not sure it would help that much in real life though.

There are a few quest chains with the artifacts, such that you recover several in a row for a very small reward, and then you get a nice gun or armor at the end of the chain. I held on to every artifact because I didn't want to sell one used for a quest.

The shotgun seemed to be mostly worthless. It's far too close of a range to deal with the bandits shooting at you from 50 meters away. I went pistol -> viper -> ak. The viper doesn't do much damage, but ammo is plentiful early on, and it's accurate enough at the normal engagement ranges. The special "quick-firing ak" served me well for a long time. It fired as fast as the viper, but did ak damage.
