S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl

I had some fun in the game, especially with wiping out freedom. it's a rather cool game and the online was nice. (especially when a player named Joseph Stalin owned everyone in a Polish server. )

Only reason I killed the Duty leader was because the bastards started shooting at me for no reason :p. You know when you pass by a group of them they say something in Russian (or something similar) and point their guns at you? And that when you put your gun away, they lower their weapons? Well that happened when I passed the leader, put away my gun, and then they randomly start shooting at me.

That happened to me, I think what happened is you start walking through the checkpoint, and they tell you to stop. If you don't turn around and go back, they shoot you. Or I could be thinking of a different checkpoint, I had Duty shoot me in the back when I walked through one once.

Is it just me, or do the freedom members not really seem like they are opening up the zone for the world? They seemed more like a laid back group. I half-expected them to start smoking pot, except they are still at least somewhat disciplined.

Lo and behold, I'm getting the Wish Granter ending again :p

This time it'll be different since both Duty and Freedom aren't dead. I became allies with Duty and am on hostile terms with Freedom (Yay exploring before quests....)

How does one go about figuring out the past of Strelok anyways, I don't see a way.

I belive it's when after you compelte X16 (remember to check Ghost's corpse) you will get a mission to find Guide (I believe) and then Doctor. You can still get the wish granter ending (just quicksave before you go in there) if you want ot see what you'd get but if you get the decoder from the stash in Pripyat (must do the other find guide/doctor to get it) you can open the door further down the hall way from the entrance to the wish granter, make sure you have lots of ammo.

Oh good, I'm at the bar so I'll be able to go to the guide (yeah I have the mission, but I was doing other dirty work :p)

This game pissed me off immensely. There must've been something wrong with my game, because even in the early game I'd get OWNED so hard even with using strategy. It forced me to use a trainer >_<

And then I progress through the whole game, over 40 hours of game-play, my mission was to find the "Wish-Granter", and BAM, I'm dead. Game over. WOO. Worth it so much.

I finnished it on Hard to get the moneys worth it was quite easy provided you avoided the stealth mode. Wasnt too much of a challange even on hard. The AI mechanics are clumsy once you get hold of a half decent weapon. I really liked the zombi part which could have been longer.

The REAL final stage was a dissapointment. jumping puzzles, tough gun fights which ruined the atmosphere.

Good solid game.

EDIT: Everyone notice in the intro the driver of the corpse truck is in Duty uniform ? Which means your one of the corpses in the back
I thought it was a glitch or oversight but that was a nice touch

I finally picked this one up. Was $15 at D2D this weekend.

The balistics seems to be more of a scatter type than bullet drop in this game. Overall, I'm liking it, especially the challenging recoil effects.

About the only thing lame I've noticed are the anomalies kind of feel like something pulled out of a nintendo game, and your friends will walk directly into them. I dig that they need some kind of way to limit the freedom and running around, so anomalies work. Compared to Far Cry AI seems a bit worse, but the squad battles are sweet; I've yet to run into one on veteran setting that I can walk through in less than 5 tries..

I can't really tell. I have no ability to tell distance (in RL and games) and I'm rarly shooting far enough away to notice nullet drop.

It took getting used to (for me) that the iron sights are not 100% guarenteed to hit as they are in every other game I've played that has them. Although with the G37 I'm getting using less ammo, on humans. I want a flame thrower to kill the dogs with.

@Darth: Thanks! I'll try that mod out after I finish the game, or is it save compatible?

Is there a way to get blood spray when you hit a live target from far? Like a mod? When I aim for head shots with the assault rifles it tends to show dust clouds regardless if I hit or miss (kind of like when you're at a real rifle range shooting targets).

Also any mods that do a better job of critical hits like head shots? I know most of the targets are in body armor, but if you can see their face, it should be 1 shot 1 kill, not like 10 rounds to the head (even for the happy zombies).

As long as the bullet hits the head (aiming down the sight does not guarentee a direct hit) in an unprotected spot (also depends on the bullet type, some are better than others) it should kill them.

Does STALKER run on a Source Engine (example: Half Life 2, Garry's Mod, etc) or does it use a different engine?

It uses the X-ray Engine.

EDIT: Installed the Zone Reclamation Project mod and went through the modifier, it looks like it's going to be good!

Does PLR's Realistic Weapons work with ZRP?

About my previous rat comment - I just got this game, and Pseudogs kinda look like the concept art for rat-wolves in the first anouncements (They, with alot of other stuff, were cut-out for the release. Several creatures, some weapons and all the vehicles. Vehicles you could drive, that is.). So, my mistake, sorry!

There are a couple of mods that enable cut-out stuff, google for them!

Ive been meaning to play this game for so long, I love non-linear shooters like this and Crysis, are there creatures and such or is it just humans?

There are mutant animals (I think only several different kinds though, mostly based off dogs, but they are nice), zombies, and humans.

Crysis is pretty linear for most of the game, it just has large levels.
