I'm surprised I couldn't find a thread through search on the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series, so here it is I suppose.

I recently bought CoP. Once you get in the full swing of things, it's a very gripping game and, from what I can remember of SoC, blasts it out of the water. Personally, I love artifact hunting with fellow stalkers and the "HORY SHEEET" moments during an emission are a nice touch. Storywise, it seems a bit lacking but it's certainly enjoyable.

I've only played through SoC and Clear Sky so far. CoP is on my to-do list.

I highly recommend the Complete mods.

I'd rather play through it vanilla before dabbling in mods. That way, next time I get an even better experience.

Played almost entirely through CoP, but quit when I got to pripyat because there were no sidequests left to do. The main quest sucks quite much.

That's a bummer. I'm almost at Pripyat now, and I'm struggling to find side quests to do.

I had a better experience with Shadow of Chernobyl, actually.

I just heard that the two first games are extremely buggy

They were at release but the patches and mods helped a lot and they are a lot of fun
