Sandkasten

That sounds really good, Snaaty. :goodjob:

My only concern is that we won't get a GS in time to beat out a prophet, but that doesn't look like it'll be a problem if we get Writing on Quatronia's proposed schedule (we should have some 12t to complete a library).

If we go AH, then we might as well get hunting first? Not sure there... another 2 turns we'll lose. For something that's a freebie from anyone else.

Surely, Iron is MUCH, MUCH better, particularly on this map. Iron is the king resource of military importance. And since we KNOW the map makers took out all copper near caps to prevent Colossus from being to strong, they most likely made up for things by adding more Iron to compensate?

I've gotta say that I think that there are no strat. resources on any home island (I stand to be corrected though). It seems like something logical that the mapmaker would do to encourage settling the contested landmasses. I would also think that we have at least one of copper or horses on a nearby landmass. If that is the case then SURELY that is enough reason not to ignore IW, but rather to delay it in lieu of other techs and hopefully pick it up later in a trade or something.

It seems like our next two cities will be one on the home continent and one on the other landmass to pick up horses or copper. This is why I believe that although it is an important tech, IW just isn't useful enough in the short term. Worst case scenario is that we spend a bunch of beakers to find out that we don't have any iron accessible either!

Well, we've taken a little detour now and whipping a granary sooner.. and switching to a second WB instead of settler in capital. I don't have probs with this, it just pains me to see TWO gem tiles that are not even being worked. Eeeeek! But.... I understand.

Snaaty, before I forget, it seems we need another player for this:

i also feel bad about not working the gems, but we have to get out cities and we have to do so fast. our fastest "production" point is when whipping our capital from 4-2, then regrowing. so we will have to live with the fact that we wont work the gems some more turns from now on (1 galley and 3 settler whips in capital, so 4 more 2 pop whips in total we must do:rolleyes:)

We've had a few alterations now to the original plan. I'm wondering, if maybe it's ok if we wait for city #2 to reach pop of 4 before whipping? That way we take max advantage of the two rice plots?

Hmm...

Well, since we don't have a granary, I won't feel that guilty then about the food.

As for when our WB gets to that desert island, I'm not sure yet if we should then move it EAST across it, or down SOUTH after.

Lots of action going on right now. So I'm halting everything until the end of our set. We can possibly trade Mono to Hannibal maybe to get the last 4 turns done with sailing, so we can work on a galley even sooner?

Cyrus already has mono I see, and it looks 99% like he must have got it from someone else as well. Someone, who probably failed the mono race, and maybe is taking another gamble on Theology right now.

If we can build a galley this turn would it screw with our plan too much to build a galley instead of a WB in the capital?

EDIT: Oh wait...the whip production has already been used towards the WB, hasn't it? nevermind then.

Snaaty, since we are going to start bleeding off food in city #2 at pop 3, how about we immediately whip off the pop there? That gets our wb out in just 1 turn instead of a another 5. We can then put the OF into a temple at 250% profit.

BTW, did we agree yet on WHICH temple we should build?

By pop 3, I think you mean pop-4? Pop 3 works only 2 tiles + 1 engineer.

By pop 3, I think you mean pop-4? Pop 3 works only 2 tiles + 1 engineer.

pop3 = pop 3 = pop-3 = pop_3... ...what do youm mean with "i think you mean pop-4 with pop 3:crazyeye

pop 3 can work 1 food tile and 2 specialists (and still grow with +1, but not in our case, caouse of stinky problem), so i dont see your point:confused:

we will regrow to pop 3 in time for the priest, so no worries here also

So.. we agree that right NOW we whip our first WB, because we have just hit pop3 again right? I just want to be SURE we are all clear on that before I do it.

we dismiss the engineer and the priest and whip a granary in city 2 (-> we now have to whipping cities 4->2 for getting settlers out)

I have an alternative plan. After our GE pops, we have a 50 pts penalty. IF we decide to keep an Eng running, there will still be another 50 pts penalty on top of this when the capital pops something.

However, we will burn through 200 pts in 34 turns (after the first pop). So... if we decide to keep an engineer running, there is a lot of stuff that we could do. Rushing TGL, Parthenon, AP, or keeping for later on something like UoS.

This will actually be guaranteed, unless we start running a lot of scientists before then.

The Parthenon or AP alone are worth 4 settlers as is. This would allow us to still expand but get the big BANG along with it. We'd trade one plot-slot in exchange for 2.25H + 3Beakers.

BTW, sailing isn't in until next turn. I'm thinking it may be best to leave one of the gems un-worked, and have the capital work the farmed dye instead. This would grow us an extra pop in 2 turns instead of 3. This would allow us to have our galley out 1 turn sooner. Hmm...

Did some more thinking. If we rush Mids in City #2, that's another 2*2 GE pts. So in reality, by keeping an engineer running, we can pop the next one out in just 20 turns. We can use the priest from the capital to bulb theology (and hopefully steal the missionary too). Then we rush it with the GE.

I think we should bulb theo when we get the priest, and then trade it around right away. It SHOULD have more value if some sucker feels they can use it to make a run for the AP. I doubt it, but who knows. Then when they get the message a few turns later we popped another GE, they'll realize they've been had.

I definitely like the idea of using the Pyramids GE points to pop another GE. We should build the Great Library with it -- a great fit for our traits
