Saving Rome CFC Contest

Hmm... guess I should have checked this thread out a little more. All kinds of things going on.

Anyway, my barbarians are happy to report a win against Hawklord's Romans. I caught a couple of lucky breaks early on and was able to hold off the Roman hordes until my civs got up to speed. Then I tried the "swarm everywhere at once and hope for the best" offense. And this time it actually worked!--44 hard-fought turns later.

VP total was 24355 for the barbs and they didn't give a final number for Rome. Not sure why.

In my game against Gnarfflinger it's hard to say which way it's going. My Romans were able to destroy the Franks and take the Visigoths down to two cities but the other tribes have risen up and are coming at me hard. An endless stream of Vandal warlords and Sassanid cavalry are marching toward me but I'm fending them off for now.

My offensive moves have been pretty ineffective recently as the Sassanids easily wiped out my cavalry stack in the south and my invasion of the Celts stalled out quickly. But I've still got high hopes for the huge sneak attack I have planned of 4 dozen cavalry in... whoops... um, I mean what sneak attack? No sneak attacks here.

Is everybody still keen to have another try in the next round. Except Classical Hero. Who isn't one of mine now
Should we find a replacement? Can't see how to do it any other way except if me and King Stuart loose those points from the games against Classical Hero.
Any suggestions for a player who can last the season?

Looks like King Stuart will take an early lead. It is going to be tough to win as Rome.

I'll keep playing on, but I'm still in the middle of my game againse LochNorFarm. Trying to change some tactics a bit in hopes of breaking the Romans...

If everyone is still interested I will post for a new player, Let me know 1 way or another.

Locked alliances is no good as the barbs have contact too soon. Victory seems to revolve around the Romans surviving or not. The challenge will be keping the romans alive until the end, if you can you will win.

Still interested here. And I guess a new player is the way to go. Can't think of anyone offhand though. And we Romans will never be defeated, whatever Gnar throws at us!

That I believe is happenning. I've blown way too many turns on poor tactics, and am trying something different. If you need to start the next round, go ahead, and I will try to finishe LochNor as quickly as possible...

OK welcome aboard Niveclough. First come first served.
I have changed the biq back so that the barbs don't know each other as they could swap techs too easily. The Romans are in a locked alliance so their score is joint. It seems to me that to win as Rome all you have to do is keep both alive Easier said than done.
I'll send the biq to everyone along with an email list soon.

Oh by the way Niveclough the rounds are at the top of the post. You send your set up as the romans to Lochnorfarm and should get one from Gnarflinger.
