Saving the position CIV 4 on vista home

Hello!
I hope that somebody can help me regarding my problem with saving of the position after you just want to stop playing and to continue some otherday.I have windows vista,the game is working without any problem only when I want to save position it gives me msg error occured and file can not be saved>Auto saving is working,but later on I can not load the file it doesnt load it from file evem I mark which one I want to continue,but nothing.Pleeeeasee if someone knows how to make this thing to work.Thanks in advance

is the hard drive/partition you are trying to save to full by any chance?
also what does the error say exactly?

When I go on main menu to save it,it saves in C drive where is file My games under Civlization 4 file and I dont understand what it means full saving.It just said that error without any details what kind of error and there is no file to load so each time I need to play from the begining and auto savings which I find in mentioned files can not load.I hope you can help me.I am not big expert in comp,but I know basic things.

try the following:
right click on the shortcut you use to run Civ, click on properties and after the target line add the following:

/altroot=C:\path\to\civ4stuff

where C:\path\to\civ4stuff is some folder you create, e.g. CivSaves or the like - maybe that works better

Thank u Ori I will try to see if this will work.I am now not with my Pc I will let you know what happened.I was planing to instal last patch for Civ 4,cause I was thinking this will help ,but I will try first your idea.Thanks ia advance.

Now I saw what you ment regarding C drive full.No, the drive is not full,there is plenty of free space,comp is new and I installed only few short softwares.I will try to see how the things will go with your solution.Thanks
