Scariest game ever?

True, but there are some 'jump-out-your-seat- moments. Especially, as I said before, those fast-moving ones in Ravenholm.

I found it creepy, but never too scary. It was too creepy-atmospheric part, now shooting part [repeat] for me to stay scared for too long. The only great scary part I remember was when I fully expected a shootout, but it never came for about twenty minutes so I began mentally bracing myself for something that never came. Possibly as I was lost, though.

I didn't appreciate some of the shock tactics, I always find them a cop-out when it comes to scary games/movies.

Creepy in Ravenholm, but not scary. I admit, I did jump at times. :p The weird shotgun dude keeps you alive. :D

Oh yes, until the end, when he spends ten minutes wheeling that damn trolley over what, ten feet? :p

No one mention any text-based RPG's from the early 80'ies? I guess you guys are too young. ;) A bit later, still in the 80'ies, they had more or less graphics. Creepy it was!
Unfortunately, I don't remember any particular titles. Or wait, I do remember Black Crypt!

In Civ3, Ghandi scared me the first time he attacked. I almost had to turn around and see if jumbo dumbo was behind me. :D

I have not played much games, but I think Ravenholm is the scariest experience I've survived...

Parasite Eve 2. Those cow monsters are scary..

They were horses mutated horses. (and they took some killing)

RE4: come out already.

Alien vs. Predator 2. Being a marine, with nothing more then a flashlight and a radar... Alien comming from everywhere, those terrible sounds...

The sound of the Hell Knights/ Barons from Hell in Doom II scared me to death, especially when I only had a pistol...

But I maintain seeing a Zulu/Aztec/Russian Armor in Civ I when all I had was Musketeers/Phalanxes is bar far the grandaddy of them all.

Simply the AvP Marine campaign is the scariest crap ever made. You have a flimsy motion detector but it's only shows 180 degrees in front of you. The flashlight chases away the dark, but then the battery runs out. The motion detector goes crazy and before you know it your spinnin around like a maniac firing at shadows and ventilation systems. Complete silence, did you kill it? You hear a slight growling noise and you hear something like a beastly jaw opening. The battery recharges a bit, you turn the flashlight back on and point it above you. It reveals an Alien who makes a spine-chilling scream and pounces at you like an evil murdering beast that is. You are like HOLY ****! ****! JESUS H CHRIST! and you try to fire at it but it's too late because your organs all over the floor and your head has been bitten of by the Alien.

Scary stuff.

As I said before, the scary thing about AvP (you get a flashlight in 2, lucky thing!) is the choice you have to make in tracking enemies.

1. Motion tracker but in pitch black - you can't see them, but you know they're there in advance of your death.
2. Night Vision but no motion tracker - you don't know it's coming, but you will at least see the alien as it's pouncing.

Great stuff.

What, no one played Silent Hill, or no one found it particulary scary? Which one is it?
I've never played any. :( I plan to do so in the future.

I did listen to the OST's of SH 2,3,4 which are :goodjob: .

Silent Hill 1. That game gave me the creeps because it seemed like everytime I played it, I was by myself. And that alternative world was freakin eerie and freaky and scary. And all I had was pipe most of the time.

Hehe, I am with you Stormrage. That game was totally scary. LOL sometimes I had to get up and turn the light on. I was actually too afraid to play it in the dark. I would start in the day but it would roll over to night and before I knew it I was home alone, in the dark playing it and getting scared. :p
