Scariest game ever?

Those blood-sucking quadruped robots in Quake II frightened the bejesus out of me. System Shock II was even worse, because there was just a constant feeling of menace (and I never even played beyond the first level).

Shadowman gave me the creeps back in 1999

Ah, sweet memories!

Gothic style, zombies, deadwings, orks, hook hogs, demon dogs, wolfmen, trueforms, ghouls...

All the screaming and horror.

Brilliant!

I'll say F.E.A.R. Super creepy. You guys should try out the demo and see what I mean.

lol fear little girl oh how scary...not.

Yes they designed the environment/ambience/hallucinations that well that they were able to stick in a little girl as the main bad guy and still keep it scary. That's fantastic design. Say what want but no way is Doom 3 scarier than F.E.A.R.

But its just a little girl....I crush them.

Oh, dear. I haven't played many scary games- I don't often play FPS's and the such. But what WAS scary to me was when in, ... I actually don't remember the game, but when you saw the rabbit's head on the pole- ugh...

Duke Nukem, was an odd/scaryish game. This about the Mcdonalds that used dog meat..:(

Dont ask why but when i was a little kid i was afraid to go downstairs in the basement to play the NES. I was afraid of the dark!

I bought Undying. I played it a bunch. Haven't finished it yet. And so far, it's not a good game at all. I'm not sure I'll finish it. It's not very scary either. System Shock 2 is much scarier. I guess horror games just don't have much going for them these days.

I jumped in half-life 2 when you would suddenly get sniped or a headcrab would jump out or something.

But back when it came out, resident evil gave me freekin nightmares.

Wuss! Half Life 2 isn't scary! :p

F.E.A.R is damn scary though. I didn't get past the first level, it was that scary. I was awake at night for about a week. Really.

I suppose I'm a wuss. :(

True, but there are some 'jump-out-your-seat- moments. Especially, as I said before, those fast-moving ones in Ravenholm.

I found it creepy, but never too scary. It was too creepy-atmospheric part, now shooting part [repeat] for me to stay scared for too long. The only great scary part I remember was when I fully expected a shootout, but it never came for about twenty minutes so I began mentally bracing myself for something that never came. Possibly as I was lost, though.

I didn't appreciate some of the shock tactics, I always find them a cop-out when it comes to scary games/movies.

Playing as a marine in Aliens vs. Predator is pretty damn scary and for a good reason, too! Zombies and the like become much less terrifying, once you learn that you are faster than them and can beat them up with a crowbar, if worse comes to worst. Not so with aliens! You hardly see them before they hit you and they are gone before you can hit them back. Assuming you survive the initial contact, of course...

Edit: Appears i'm not the first to point this out. Teaches me to read more than the OP next time!

System Shock 2 was scarry ? :crazyeye: What exactly ?

I've always wondered if the reason I'm not particularly bothered by newer scary games is because I played Aliens vs Predator in the dark when I was 15, which immunised me for life
