Science department. When we know Monarchy, what techs do you want then ?

We are hopefully going to get Monarchy in the next turnchat. After that we can research:

Mathematics,
Philosophy,
Code of Laws,
Literature,
Mapmaking.

I am pleased ( ) to tell you we were beaten to mathematics by the Zulu.

Mapmaking, so we can build harbors for Furuyama and Zojoji, create galleys for exploration and quick transport along our coast. No question we needs mapmaking.

I would say either Map Making (which is a popular AI tech) or CoL (which is too, but to a lesser degree). Hopefully, if we get to CoL first, we can do some trading to get ahead of the AI. How many turns would we get CoL at, as the screenshot cuts it off?

Literature- We are just getting ready to start building up culture, and having libraries would increase both science and culture, as well as open up the possibility of tthe Great Library.

We will not get Monarchy for some time yet (probably not in next two turnchats) and AI will by than get other techs like they did with math. So we will probably trade polytheism for some of the techs too.
I think this topic is too early here and not well formulated for the current situation. By the time we get Monarchy too many things will be completely different and all things we discuss here obsolete.

Lets rather decide what techs do we prefer to trade for Polytheism or to buy with gold or other deals. That way science department could suggest to trade department which techs are priority when buying/exchanging techs with AI.

My choice is: Literature and Construction to get possibility to build at least 1 wonder, and libraries and aquaducts are nice to have.

I agree with obtaining Literature so that we can build libraries and most importantly, the Great Library .

Once again, as I failed last time, I am pushing for Literature. We can build Libraries which increase our science and create 3 Culture per Turn. We also can build the Great Library which can be useful for recieving multiple techs for free.

Excuse me, I forgot to mention that the Great Library also generates 6 culture points per turn. I just felt I needed to add that to my argument.

Literature is the wrong way to go, as is spending precious resources on the Great Library. Trade Polytheism to get Mathematics, and then after Monarchy we should sell it to catch up while researching Currency which will also be a tradeable tech. Don't let the others get ahead of us! Also we need to quit trying to hold on to techs the others don't have, and take them for all they have instead.

Regarding the tradability of Currency... Mr. President, you took the words right out of my mouth.

Actually, Poly might also net us Philosophy in addition to Math, if doen correctly. But, again, we have time. I would recommend to the Trade Advisor to allow the DP to check for trades every so often, moving in when A: we can get 2 techs for 1, or B: if things get antsy...

By "sell it", you meant Poly and not Monarchy, am I right, Dave? Because if you said Monarchy, please consider the Hanging Gardens... (Sistine I'm thinking is the "Make or Break" wonder of our Demo, but HG has some middle-term value...)

We should research what the build queue would need first. We need map making to strengthen and use our ports (galley and harbor) , and then research litereature, as we will not have library in the buildqueue that fast anyways. The intelligence value of mapping our continent and the surrounding islands is priceless, and a 10 turn head start for our galleys is priceless as we near the middle ages. Carpe Diem Baby!

I am indecisive at the moment.
Usually i would go for Literature to build GL. But I am afraid we would not be able to finish it as first. I guess, the Babs are going for Literature too, cause they are scientifc. So, I agree with invy to wait unitl we get monarchy. Then we see what we can trade and make a decission afterwards.

Actually since we are a religious civ we don't experince any anarchy. To improve our science abilty we could do one of two things, make a v line to lit to get libaries or to currency to make money and thus buy or techs. Trading tech at this time seems to be a good idea. Either way will be fine by me. The best of Japanaitica is my only goal. Basically both ways are good and therefore I am undecided as to our best path.
