--I am always playing in Deity level with Greeks in standard map, all victory conditions on, and at least 7 opponents civs.
-I use a strategy to built Great Library in the early game,( i have tried hard to built Great Lighthouse first ,but its really impossible) and i manage to built about 4-5 cities till the expire of the wonder. Till that point i am doing fine, because i am ahead in techs, and i have enough money saved ,as i am not searching of course while the wonder exists , but very soon the other civs go ahead of me in techs...when the wonder expire....there must be a key to the industrial age exactly after the expire of Great Library.....can anyone help to that point?
thanks

I try to wage an early war to get more cities and build the forbidden palace early on, usually in one of the first ring cities so it will be fast). It really helps me. So with more good and useful cities than everyone else I find it quite easy to get enough money to buy the techs. I can even afford to rush improvements (like universities). From time to time I run into a game where I can actually research faster than the AI by the late medieval ages.

Try using the hoplites+offence to fight your closest neighbor. You might start a golden age this way and it will definitely help you.

Or if you are still expanding after education, you might think about slowing it down to keep the cities growing.

A couple hints.

If you sacrificed expansion to get the Great Library then it probably wasn't worth it. On a standard map you will need more than 4-5 cities - isn't eight the number for the FP? You will need a strategy to expand somehow.

As far as the Industrial Age and later (heck the whole game), learn to play while behind in techs. The best place to be is in the middle of the pack techwise (3rd is about optimal). You pay less for your techs and you get to barter them too.

Yeah, that Great Library costs you a lot of shields, and ties up a city for a long time. That city could be building settlers and units instead, which will let you found more cities and build a power base. If you only have 4 to 5 cites, that's pretty bad even on a tiny map. You're getting less production and commerce than the other civs, and one wonder (not even the Great Library) will overcome that. Don't worry about the GL, you can get a similar effect by making good technology trades. Buy a tech from an advanced AI, and trade it for techs or money to the other AIs. Really, most early wonders aren't worth it because they require such a large portion of your civ's production for an effect that will expire soon since tech moves so fast. The earliest wonder I ever try for is Sistine, but sometimes I don't attempt any until Adam Smith's.
