Ok, i don't really know how to describe this. It happens only when i'm running Starcraft. The picture on my computer normally fills the screen perfectly. When i run Starcraft though, the image on the screen gets all streached out. How do i stop it from doing this.

This is probably because it's changing to a different resolution, but your monitor is keeping the size set for your main resolution, meaning that in some cases the picture doesn't fill the screen, or, in others it's too large.

I'll admit to have never bothering to find a permanent fix for this, as it's never happened to me too much. If it does happen, I just the OSD menu on the monitor to resize the screen.

If this is what you mean, it's worth doing until (if and when) someone comes up with a more definite solution.

Well, if that is what he is talking about, that's doesn't help very much. Even at the smalliest size it is too big. I'm currently running at 1024 by 768 resolution. Would making that any "larger", like 640 by 480 help?

The image is stretched because the 640x480 resolution used by starcraft is too small for your monitor. Unfortunately I'm not sure if there is a way to force starcraft into a higher res, if there is it would be in a configuration file or an in-game menu. It's not installed on this comp, so I can't check.

You could try resizing the viewable portion of your monitor to leave a large black gap around the end when you play, but that is hardly a convenient solution.

How big is your monitor?

It probably has to do with the resolution, like Pillager says. A similar thing happens to me when I'm playing Civ and then I Alt-Tab to Kazaa or Notepad - everything is all stretched out, like the computer thinks the screen is bigger then it really is. :crazyeye:

Now THAT is strange. I used to play starcraft on a 15 inch all the time and it didn't stretch. Can you take a screenshot?

Good point. Try photocopying your monitor. :yeah:

A screenshot with the print screen button would probably not reveal the stretch, when you change stuff through the OSD menu it doesn't affect print screen I think.

:o How embarrasing, should've seen that.

However that does bring up a good point, have you tried just playing with the OSD menu for a few hours while playing to see if you can get the setting just right?

If that's not practical, you could check your monitor's website's documentation for help.
